FINANCIAL
Can a person rob God? Seems like an odd question, doesn't it? The Israelites in
the time of Malachi thought so, too. With palms upward, hunched shoulders and
sober faces, they replied, "How have we robbed you?" when the LORD queried
them.
The first principle in stewardship is simple: God owns everything. E.F. Hutton
could not say it better. With that in mind, it is no longer a matter of how much
of our stuff we give to God when we attend worship service or other religious
events; it's an issue of how much longer we plan to borrow it. The LORD made it
even easier for the Israelites (and us) to understand the returned value in giving
when he pronounced the words recorded in Malachi 3:10—“Bring the full tithe
into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to
the test,” says the LORD of hosts, “if I will not open the windows of heaven for
you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.”
So, how much room do you have at your place?
Note: Financial updates are provided monthly on the second Sunday.
