The rider’s position and effectiveness will also be judged, not just the pony. Class 39 - Pony Club Pony th Open to ponies 4 yrs and over and not exceeding 14.2hh. Open to riders who do not have their 17 birthday in 2014. Riders will be asked to jump a small jump. The rider’s position and effectiveness will also be judged, not just the pony. Class 40 - Flatwork Equitation Class th Open to any rider 16 and under who do not have their 17 birthday in 2014. In this class the rider is judged, not the horse. You will be asked to ride a simple pattern which will be available on the day from the secretary’s caravan. This will include circles and figures of eight with changes of rein and will be ridden in walk, trot and canter. The main focus is on your riding and how well you control your horse. The judge will look at your leg position, posture, hands, and overall riding ability. After the class you can collect a sheet from the secretary’s caravan with the judge’s comments. This is a fantastic way to get a little bit more out of a showing class with pointers from the judge to improve your riding, and praise for what you did well. Class 41 – Children’s Fancy Dress Class th Open to ponies 4 yrs old and over not exceeding 14.2hh. Lead rein only and open to riders who do not have their 17 birthday in 2014. PONY CHAMPIONSHIP st 1 place winners from classes 36 - 41 Ring Four – Coloured Section 8.30am Judge: Linda Lindsay Class 42 – Potential Driving Coloured/Spotted Horse or Pony Open to horses or ponies any height, aged 2 yrs or over, shown in hand and wearing a bridle. In this class the judge selects the horse or pony most suitable to make a good driving horse or pony, and it will be judged on style, attitude, freedom of movement and conformation. Class 43 - In hand Native/Traditional/Cob Coloured Type Open to any size and age of horse/pony. Class 44 - In hand Non-Native Coloured Type Open to any size and age of horse/pony. Class 45 In Hand Two Tone Open to any size and age of horses and ponies classed as two tone, such as dun, palomino, spotted Class 46 - Ridden Native/Traditional Coloured/Cob Type Open to any size of horse/pony over 4 yrs old. Class 47 - Ridden Non-Native Coloured Open to any size of horse/pony over 4 yrs. Judge : Allison McCulloch Class 51 - In hand Friesian Open to pure bred or part bred Friesian, any age Special rosette to the highest placed Friesian Horse Association GB and Ireland member Class 52 – Pure Bred Unusual or Rare Breeds Class This is a class designed to showcase unusual or rare breeds and is open to in hand and ridden horses and ponies. For example: Pure Bred Spanish horse (incl. Andalusians), Lusitano, Friesian, Haflinger, Belgian Draft, Percheron, Norweigan Fjord, Icelandic, Caspian, Morgan, Falabella, Knabstrupper, Appaloosa, American Saddlebred, Lipizzaner. Also included this year are British native breeds such as Cleveland Bay, Suffolk Punch and any other British or Irish native breed that does not have its own class at this show. Warmbloods and TBs are relatively numerous breeds and so are not included. Also not included are Arabs and Irish Draughts as they have their own class at this show. Other pure bred breeds not listed above will be considered – please contact the secretary before entering. Horses and ponies do not need to be registered but do need to be pure bred. It will be judged like a championship, so in hand will trot up as normal and ridden will do an individual show. Any age/sex is permitted and lead rein is allowed providing the pony is 12.2hh or under. Riders/handlers can be dressed in standard UK show attire or traditional dress for the breed they are showing, but a hard hat is recommended and compulsory for anyone under 14 yrs. Entries can be in hand or ridden and will be split if there are enough entries. Class 53 – Ridden Pairs Class Open to horses or ponies aged 4 years and over, any sex or colour. Riders and horses should be as closely matched as possible, ridden side by side and will be judged on similarity and way of going. Pairs will be asked to do an individual show of walk, trot and canter on both reins. Class 54 – Ridden Friesian Open to any pure or part bred Friesian, 4 years and over Special rosette to the highest placed Friesian Horse Association GB and Ireland member Class 55 – Potential Driving Horse or Pony Open to horses or ponies any height, aged 2 yrs or over, shown in hand and wearing a bridle. In this class the judge selects the horse or pony most suitable to make a good driving horse or pony, and it will be judged on style, attitude, freedom of movement and conformation. Not open to coloured or spotted horses or ponies as they have their own class in the coloured section. Class 56 – Ridden Concours d’Elegance and Costume Class Open to any height of horse or pony aged 4 years and over. This class is a combination of Concours d’Elegance, where the overall picture of elegance presented by horse/pony and rider is judged, including appearance, conformation and individual show, but unlike standard concours d’elegance classes period costumes will also be allowed. Judge – Diana Milligan Class 57 – In hand Donkey or Mule Open to any age and sex of donkey or mule. Colts 2 years and over must be bitted. Foals must be a minimum of 6 weeks old on the day of the show. This class will be split if there are sufficient entries. Class 58 – Working Donkey or Mule Open to donkeys or mules 4 years old or over, to be ridden, long reined, carrying pack saddles or driven. This class will be run according to the Donkey Breed Society rules for showing, although entries do not have to be members. Donkeys should be either carrying a load or in draught, i.e. carrying panniers/pack saddle, pulling a log, sleigh, flatcart, tipcart etc., driven from the ground. Donkeys should be properly loaded commensurate with the activity they are demonstrating and should show suitability for that task. MIXED CHAMPIONSHIP st 1 place winners from classes 49 – 58 Handy Pony Section Judge & Organiser: Curstaidh Robertson This is a fun obstacle course done either on top or leading your horse or pony over, under or through various obstacles. This is a test of trust and training between horse and handler/rider and looks play no part in this competition – it is judged entirely on how well you complete the course. Any age of horse and rider is allowed – children are 16 years and under, and ponies are 14.1hh and under. Have fun Class 59 – Adult In Hand Class 60 – Child In Hand Class 61 – Adult Ridden Class 62 – Child Ridden This section will be run between 10am and 2pm only, and has a flat fee of £5, both pre entered and on the day. Please enter at secretary’s caravan. RULES AND REGULATIONS ALL EXHIBITORS ARE ASSUMED TO HAVE READ THESE CONDITIONS AND HEREBY AGREE TO ABIDE BY THEM! BSI Kitemark hats (PAS 015, BSEN 1384, ASTM F1163, SNELL E2001 or current UK safety standard) with secure chinstraps must be worn at all times when riding. In the Foreign Breeds class horses and handlers may compete in the dress of their country of origin: competitors not wearing a hard hat do so at their own risk. Whips must not exceed 30’’ long Entries will be accepted on the day at £10.00 per entry and only post or hand delivered entries that arrive before the closing date of st Sunday 31 May 2015 will be accepted at £5.00 per entry. If your post entry will arrive after this date please pay £10.00 per class! The judge’s decision is final in matters of appeal or complaint by competitors. The organisers reserve the right to cancel, amalgamate or split classes in the event of insufficient numbers or large entries. Refunds will be given for withdrawn entries if competitors are unwilling to compete because of the amalgamation/split. Objections must be lodged in writing to the secretary within no more than one hour of an incident. A deposit of £30 must be paid. This will be forfeited if the complaint is overruled. The decision of the organiser is final. All dogs must be kept on leads at all times. The owner will be fined £20 for immediate payment when any dog is found running loose anywhere on the showground. Exhibitors must ensure that horses/ponies are kept under control at all times. Please give stallions and colts plenty of room, and keep mares in season away from stallions. It is the responsibility of both the mare and stallion owner. It is a requirement of entry that all exhibitors have public liability insurance. PLEASE KEEP THE PARKING AREA TIDY AND TAKE ALL LITTER HOME WITH YOU OR PUT IT IN A BIN. THE OWNERS OF THE FIELD HAVE BEEN VERY IMPRESSED IN PREVIOUS YEARS WITH HOW CLEAN AND TIDY THE FIELD HAS BEEN AFTER THE SHOW. PLEASE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND OUR REPUTATION! Stallions and colts are welcome but must be bitted if 2 yrs old and over and if seen to be behaving dangerously will be asked to leave the showground. Please remember this is a show for everyone and includes children so please handle your stallion safely. Mare owners please behave responsibly and keep your mares clear of the stallions, especially if your mare is in season. Competitors are welcome to enter as many classes as they wish, and while we will make every effort to accommodate everyone, if classes clash competitors must choose which class they wish to compete in. Indemnification The organisers will exercise all reasonable care and attention for the safety of all exhibits and exhibitors, but will not be responsible for the entire or partial loss or damage to the same, to any person or property, whether through accident or otherwise, or through any act of omission of themselves, servants or other persons from any other cause. It is a condition of entry that all exhibitors hold the Scottish Grass Sickness Show blameless and will indemnify them against legal proceedings and compensation for damages in connection with any such accident or loss or damage. Smith’s Gore Castle Ridden Clydesdale Series: This class is a qualifier for the Smith’s Gore Ridden Clydesdale Championships to be held at the th FEI European Eventing Championships Blair Castle on Sunday 13 September 2015. The first two in each class to qualify. Qualification may go st nd down to fourth place, if horses placed 1 and 2 have previously qualified. Registered Clydesdales and those eligible for registration may qualify and enter for the Championship. Friesian Horse Association Friesian Horse Association of Great Britain and Ireland (FHAGBI) are awarding special rosettes in both the in-hand and ridden pure bred Friesian classes to the highest placed FHAGBI member handling/riding a pure bred Friesian horse registered with the Friesch PaardenStamboek (FPS). To help in checking eligiblity, FHAGBI members should carry their membership cards and a copy of their horse's registration papers on the day of the show.
