Freid, 32° - MSA The Spring Class has been named in honor of Harold C. Freid 32°- MSA. Harold was born May 2, 1924 in Eau Claire to Carl and Ida Freid, one of three children. He lived and was raised on a farm. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1943. In July of 1944 he was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps and served 27 months with the 2nd Marine Division on Saipan, Okinawa, and 10 months occupation duty in Japan. He was discharged in 1946. He served in the Navy, Marine Corps and Army Reserves and is a life member of Eau Claire VFW Post #305. He attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and graduated in 1951 with a BA degree in Composite Math-Science and Physical Education Major and an Education Minor. He taught at Bonduel High School, Wisconsin Dells High School, Eau Claire Memorial High School, and DeLong Middle School. He received several scholarships for Math and Science through the National Science Foundation, and was employed by the Town of Washington as a part time assessor. He was baptized, confirmed, and is a member of Grace Lutheran Church where he has served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School. He married his wife Ione on August 17, 1957 at Grace Lutheran. They have four children and eleven grandchildren all living in the Eau Claire area. He has been very active in the Boy Scouts since 1968. He has served as Assistant Scoutmaster and Scout Master of the troop. He received training at Camp Decorah and at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He has attended jamborees in Pennsylvania and New Mexico. He received the Silver Beaver award in 1985. He belongs to the Golden K Kiwanis and served as President in 2006-07 and 2014-15. He was raised a Master Mason in 1969 in Eau Claire Lodge 112, serving as Master in 1981. He served as District Deputy for District 7 from 1983-86 and was District Counselor from 1987-93. He was appointed Grand Representative to Grand Lodge of the Philippines in 1994. He was exalted to Royal Arch Mason in 1982 and served as High Priest in 87 and 89, and was Grand Chapter Officer in 96. He was elected Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Wisconsin in 2003. He was appointed Grand Representative to British Columbia GCRAM in 1999. He served a three year appointment as Wis. Ambassador to the General Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons International. He was 1st Vice President of Tri-State RAM of Wis, Mich, & Minn 2003-2004.He was made a Select Master Chippewa Council #25 in 1982 and served as TIM in 97. He was Knighted in Dec. 1982 of Commandary #8 and was Commander 94-96. He was made a member of Wis. Priory #16 KYCH in 98. In 84 he received the degree of Tall Cedars of Lebanon. He is a member of York Rite College #85. He was Past Governor in 2006. He was awarded the Purple Cross of the York Rite College in 2003. He was initiated a SPRS in 1972 and served as TPM in 92. He received the MSA in 2003. He joined the Zor Shrine in 1975 and was in the Drum Corps. He was active in Eastern Star serving as Worthy Patron and was named Grand Rep. to British Columbia and the Yukon in 2002. He was Initiated Red Cross of Constantine in 2003. He was Installed Sovereign for 2012 Red Cross of Constantine. He thanks everyone. The Valley Office has recently been updated with a new camera, monitor, and computer equipment. The new additions allow for more efficient remote attendance of meetings, and opens the door to many other opportunities for long distance conferencing! Lenora is attending Viterbo University of LaCrosse, pursuing a Graduate Degree in Nursing. The scholarship is available from R.A.M. No. 36 to those starting, or enrolled in, a nursing program.
