(Item 13 of the Agenda) EUROPEAN ORGANIZATION FOR NUCLEAR RESEARCH FIRST SESSION OF THE COUNCIL GENEVA 7-9 October, 1954 COMMITTEES OF COUNCIL RECOMNDATIONS OF THE AD HOC COMMITTEE COMMITTEE OF COUNCIL It is recommended that the Committee of Council be composed as follows Chairmen : President of the Council Membership : the two Vice-Presidents the Chairmen of the Finance Committee the Chairman of the Scientific Policy Committee two Members of the Council : France and Netherlands SCIENTIFIC POLICY COMMITTEE Recommendations FIWI The Ohariman and Members of this Committee should normally serve for a period of three years. The selection of members should be based primarily on personal scientific grounds, and not restricted to Council delegates. In order to ensure the rotation of membership, half the menbers should be appointed for two years. The following composition of the Scientific Policy Committee is recommended Chairman : Prof. W. Heisenberg Prof, N. Bohr * Sir John Cockcroft Prof. P, Scherrer Prof. H. Alfvén Prof, L, Leprince·Ringuet Prof, P.S.
