Santa Clara River Valley Railroad Historical Society
Engine No. 14 is a Baldwin 2-8-0 Consolidation
Steam Locomotive originally built for the Duluth &
Northeastern RR in 1913. Purchased by the
Fillmore & Western Rwy in December of 1999 from
the Dodge City RR in Dodge City, Kansas, it was
fully restored to operating condition and ran
under steam for the first time in over 50 years on
December 5, 2010—temporarily out of service.
Mission Statement
The Santa Clara River Valley Railroad Historical Society was established in 1993 to assist in the
preservation and restoration of the railroad corridor between Montalvo and Saugus, California. This
railroad corridor, commonly referred to as the Southern Pacific’s Santa Paula Branch, is a unique and
historic asset to the residents of the Santa Clara River Valley and the surrounding area. To maximize the
economic, educational, and recreational value of this asset, the Organization will acquire, preserve,
exhibit, and operate historic railroad equipment; in addition, it will collect, preserve and display
artifacts, photographs and operational documents unique to the region.
