Who We are
The Common Core calls for students to
develop literacy in all content areas. This
institute develops teachers’ music literacy
and skills aligned with the California K-8
Music Content Standards and Common
CoreLiteracyinTechnicalSubjects.Through
engagingdirectlyintheartofmusic,teachers
uncover the content, literacy, artistic
processes, and develop skills to teach
music. Teachers discover the connections
andsupportmusiceducationprovidestothe
English Language Arts Common Core and
EnglishLanguageDevelopmentStandards.
NorthernCaliforniaArtsProjectisaregional
professional development center of The
California Arts Project (TCAP) and is a part
of the California Subject Matter Project
Network.
Participatingteacherscreateandimplement
a standards-based music unit for their
classroom while re-igniting the creativity of
their students and themselves!
