Clinical Respirology Specialist
The Moncton Hospital, a facility within Horizon Health Network, is recruiting a locum respirologist. This is a
locum position to cover a maternity leave from September 2015 to August 2016 approximately. Duties of the
position include participation in the inpatient respirology consultation service along with two other full time
respirologists, outpatient respirology consultations and follow-ups, and participation in internal medicine on call.
There may be the additional option to participate in intensive care rotations.
The hospital functions as a tertiary referral center for respirology for Eastern New Brunswick. There is an on-site
thoracic surgery service. The Moncton Hospital is a 386-bed tertiary and critical care facility within Horizon Health
Network. It is a major referral hospital which serves communities throughout New Brunswick, Prince Edward
Island and northern Nova Scotia. Most major services and subspecialties are available: general surgery (including
hepatobiliary), thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, interventional radiology, major orthopedics, neurosurgery and
neuroradiology, ENT, urology, high risk obstetrics (approximately 1400 deliveries per year), gynecology and plastic
surgery (including burns). The Moncton Hospital is a level 2 provincial referral trauma center. The intensive care
unit has a 10 bed medical-surgery unit and 6 bed neurosurgical unit. As the Moncton Hospital has affiliation with
both Dalhousie University and Memorial University, academic and research opportunities are available.
The city, with adjoining municipalities, has a population of approximately 138,000, and was ranked as one of the
best Canadian cities for quality of community life. There is an abundance of educational, cultural and recreational
opportunities including easy access to warm water beaches of the Northumberland Strait, and also the scenic Bay of

Requirements:
Interested candidates must hold certification in Internal Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians and
Surgeons of Canada or the examination of le Collège des médecins du Québec, with a minimum of two years
subspecialty training in respirology. In circumstances where no qualified Canadian applicants are available,
applicants holding American Boards in Internal Medicine or membership of the Royal College of Internal Medicine
of England and Ireland will be considered.
Remuneration:
Remuneration is salaried, based on qualifications and experience, in accordance with the Medical Pay Plan from
Medicare, New Brunswick. On call remuneration is fee for service. Intensive care (optional) remuneration is
sessional.
