unanimously voted for a change
to the rules regarding the
attachment of the block on the
mainsheet bridle. This proposal
was presented to the
International Class Association

has now been approved by ISAF
and became part of the Class

copy of the rules is posted on
the ISAF and RS Tera websites.

Every year the UK Association
selects an ex-Tera sailor to
receive the 'Training Legacy'; an
award enabling them to pass on
their knowledge to upcoming
sailors, while gaining an
instructor's qualification.
Applications for the 2015/16
Squad Season should be sent to
the Class Secretary.

Dear RS Tera Class

see two GBR sailors bringing

Congratulations to European

I am really looking forward
to a great season in 2015,
particularly as I know a lot of
you have been putting in
plenty of time on the water.
At the last count we were
aware of nearly 150 sailors
participating in winter
training groups across the
country including: the
Northern region, Alton
Water, Hayling Island, Bewl
Valley and Torbay.
A new event in the calendar
was the End of Seasons at
Datchet Water in November.
Following a good turnout,
this will now form part of
the annual events
programme.
National Squad training has
been as popular as always,
with a new coaching team,
bringing a new approach
and focus.

The UK RS Tera Class
Association
We are an active, non-profit,
association comprising a
growing band of sailors and
parents who use the RS Tera
in the UK.
We organise races, 'gettogethers' and training for
the sailors to enable them to
get the most out of the boat
and out of their sailing. The
primary aim is that the
sailors have fun yet remain
safe. Join us for news,
training and racing.

The 7 RS Tera Class
Association National
Championships saw the fleet
turn out in force at Derwent
Reservoir with a magnificent
entry of 103, placing the

class 5 in the Yachts and
Yachting league table. The
class has come a long way
since the 28 entries and

The introduction of the
Regatta Fleet was popular
and this will now form part
of the Nationals event going
forward.
Three GBR boats travelled to

represented the UK fleet

everyone.
At the time of writing there
are already 25 GBR boats

venue and we look forward
to a very strong GBR
presence.
Congratulations to ex RS

Jake Todd, Crispin Beaumont
and Tom Darling who have
all managed to secure a

Jack Lewis, Daniel Lewis,
Tristan Payne, Henry

to secure a place in the RYA

"YOUR CLASS"
The UK RS Tera Class
Association cannot run
without the help and
commitment of volunteers
and any form of assistance is
hugely appreciated. I'd like
to thank everyone who has
helped in one way or
another: event registration;
driving a safety boat;
manning the tally board;
setting up/packing away at
events; and of course our
committee.
The committee is a vital
component to the success of
this dinghy class and there
are opportunities to join the
team. Currently there is a
vacancy for a Vice-chairman,
since Mark stepped down,
and there will be more
openings as we approach
the AGM at the Nationals in
Weymouth as existing
members come to the end
of their term, or their
children move onto other
classes.
As your current Chairman, I
will complete my fourth year
in 2015. As such, I have
decided that it is time I step
aside when my term comes
to an end; at the AGM in
August. This does of course
mean we need to find a new
chairman...and I've no doubt
some of you are tempted.
Please keep an eye out on
the Class Association
website for news of events,
race reports and other
useful stuff. I am constantly
being asked about second
hand boats or equipment for
sale so don't forget it is free
to advertise on the website.
I wish all RS Tera Sailors fair
winds, good luck and fun
times in 2015.

HELP NEEDED
ARE YOU ATTENDING
THE WORLD
CHAMPIONSHIPS
2015?
Tera fleets are
emerging
across the UK.
The 2014
Nationals
attracted
entries from 23
different clubs.
The Class Association
needs help transporting
the Class ribs to the RS
Tera Worlds in
Bruinisse, Holland as
well as the RS Feva
World Championships
in Travemünde,
Germany.
Ideally we need
volunteers who are
attending both World
Championships.
The ribs are capable of
carrying dinghies on
top frames, and all
necessary rigging, foils
and trolleys inside.
WHATS IN IT FOR YOU?
Volunteers will be
reimbursed at a rate of
20p per mile for
transporting the rib to
and from these backto-back events. Ferry
costs of up to £200 will
also be provided.

News of Other Fleets
2014 saw the launch of the latest
single handed dinghy to hit the
water; the RS aero. This boat has
taken the dinghy sailing world by
storm, with its light weight,
multiple rig combinations and
striking looks.
Five ex-RS Tera PRO sailors are
already the proud owners of
these boats and, along with a
number of Tera parents and local
sailors, have participated in
winter training at the same
venues as the RS Tera National
Squads. The RS aero fleet will join
the RS Tera fleets at a number of
events in 2015. For those who
are going to be moving on from
the RS Tera PRO at the end of this
season, and for parents who
want to sail rather than run,
cycle, shop or watch……trial sails
can be arranged through the RS
aero website or by contacting the
team at RS directly.
The RS Feva has always held a strong appeal to RS Tera
sailors with an increasing number competing in the
major events. 27 past and present RS Tera sailors
participated at the 2014 RS Feva Nationals, while 37
joined the Worlds event in Carnac.
The class attracts big fleets and offers a number of UK
events along with annual European and World
Championships. If you are interested in getting on to
the RYA Pathway, the RS Feva could be the next step for
you.
.
The RS Feva Class Association has a brand new boat
available to charter. If you would like to give it a go,
please get in touch with the new class secretary:- Lucy
