March 2015 SD FCCLA Update _____________________________________________________________________________________ 2014-15 State Theme – A TRIBUTE TO LEADERSHIP You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want. ~ Zig Ziglar State Meeting Registration – due March 20th Things to check before you submit: 1. Have you clicked the Event button behind each student’s name competing? This will allow you to identify the event and the team for the student. 2. Do you have students attending that aren’t competing? Even if they are affiliated members, add them by selecting Add Another Name there is an option for Non-competing Student in this area. 3. Have you included 2 judges? 4. Do you have a student to participate in the FCCLA Choir? If you want to add someone, click on your chapter name and ID number at the top of the initial registration page. This will take you back to the page to include a member for the choir. 5. Do you want to support the Outreach Team fundraiser? Click on Item behind individual names and you can purchase t-shirts for only $10 a piece with all proceeds going to Share Our Strength. 6. Did you get any SD FCCLA merchandise? Click on Item behind individual names and you can select various SD FCCLA items at discounted prices. State Leadership Teams (Formerly Known as Peer Education) Report all of the projects your chapter has completed prior to April 1st. The Trends Team and the National Outreach Team both have recognition opportunities for your members. You can report all information on one form! http://sdfccla.org/state-leadership-teams.html State Meeting Forms Photo Consent/Code of Conduct forms will need to be submitted at registration for all students attending the conference. Advisers/chaperones will want an up-to-date Permission/Medical Release form in their possession while traveling with students. Both forms are available on the state website under Events. Voting Delegate Each chapter is responsible for one individual to serve as a voting delegate. The voting delegate will need to be available on Monday morning of state meeting for the business session. Schedule A tentative schedule is available on the state website under Events. Changes can and will be made once registration closes. Number of teams, time and space all determine when events are held. Chapter Adviser Responsibilities at State Meeting Each chapter adviser is responsible for serving as a room consultant at state meeting. Assignments will be distributed once registration closes. Future State Meetings Many of your school districts are working on next year’s calendar. A list of upcoming state meetings has been added to the state website. Please note the meetings will be held in the Sioux Falls Convention Center starting in 2017. 2016 – April 24-26 2017 – April 2-4 2018 – April 8-10 2019 – March 31 – April 2 2015 National Conference Nationals will be held in Washington, DC July 5-9, 2015. South Dakota’s late state meeting will make preplanning extra important this year. Prior to state meeting, discuss with your students and their parents about the possibility of advancing to nationals. This year chapters need to register for the meeting, they will get an access code for their hotel, and then they can make hotel reservations. The hotels need to be booked May 1st.
