SEAN GIBBS Trumpeter and Composer/Arranger Sean Gibbs is a trumpet player and composer from Edinburgh. After growing up playing jazz with various local and national ensembles, he enrolled on the BMus (hons) jazz course at Birmingham Conservatoire aged 18. He is currently in his fourth and final year of the course, having studied with esteemed trumpet players Percy Pursglove and Richard Iles, alongside many international guest artists. Performance highlights to date include gigs at the London, Manchester and Edinburgh Jazz Festivals, Frankfurt’s Jazzkeller and the finals of the 2013 and 2014 Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year competitions. Sean has also written numerous works for big band, including an arrangement for the legendary vocalist Norma Winstone. His debut big band album will be recorded by the newly formed Birmingham Jazz Orchestra, and is due for release in the summer of 2015.
