As we come to the end of the
summer season, please
remember to update your
address and contact details with
the office staff
Here we are at the closing stages of the
2014/15 summer season and the early stages
of the winter Season. That’s right Surf Club
runs for twelve months of the year.
It has been a very rewarding summer and we
were blessed with good weather most of the
time. We are a large club with a very diverse
range of activities from our youngest Nippers
to our Lifesavers and all those things in
between. Without you “The Members” none
of this would be possible. It is a credit to all
that we manage all these activities with a
minimum of fuss while always trying to
improve.
I take this opportunity to thank all those
involved in running the club during the
summer season and trust we all had fun and
enjoyment along the way. As we progress
through the season and over the years it gives
me great joy to see people develop their skills,
confidence and relationships. After all this is
why we exist to build great communities.
By now you would have noticed the wonderful
progress on the new facility. The cooperation
from the Builder and City of Rockingham are
second to none with the site Manager Rob
joining our operational committee.
Strategically we see our new home providing
solid opportunities going forward and giving us
a sustainable financial model which will
enhance member development and
opportunities in a wide range of areas. We are
looking forward to enjoying and making
friendships on the sundeck and seeing that first
sunset. This will be a premier community
facility which I am sure all members will be
able to enjoy the use of.
Our junior & senior athletes are to be
commended on their recent results at
the Junior, Country, Masters and
Senior State Championship Carnivals.
Very solid performances and for the
first time in club History we were
awarded the Handicapped Shield at
senior states. Watch this space. Surf
Sports are coming.
The Aussies are upon us and I wish our
Travelling Athletes, Supporters and
Officials well in there different
activities on the Gold Coast.
This is also the time of year Pool
Rescue kicks in and Caroline Bates has
already gotten the squad training in
preparation for upcoming Carnivals.
We also have our Gala dinner in May
when we receive a visit from the Board
of Surf Life Saving Australia as a result
of our success as DHL Australian Club
of the year. It should be a cracker of a
night in the premier function facility
Gary Holland Centre.
I wish all our members a safe and
pleasurable Easter break and
remember where ever you are to swim
between the flags.
Digby Wilson
Club President
Surf Sports and Competitions
Crusaders’ Corner
Congratulations and well done to all our
competitors, coaches and trainees for a
great 2014/15 season.
Hi All,
The patrol season may be winding up but for
the Crusaders we will be continuing with
activities right through the winter months so
make sure you keep your ears to the ground.
I'd like to thank those that supported the
Rotary Festival last Sunday, your
professionalism certainly impressed the
organisers and I know you went well beyond
what was originally expected of you. Your
professionalism with the treatment of first aid
cases during the event was outstanding.
As you know around 40 of us will be heading
off on Tuesday 7-9 April 2015 to Moore River
for our annual camp. So for those that couldn't
make it this year keep an eye on Facebook for
all the photos & staying in touch with what the
guys are up to.
We also need to get together with all the
cadets as a group to complete our YIPs awards,
so I can have the awards load by early May and
also so we can arrange to present you with
your Certificates - Bronze and Silver rewards.
We are still looking at Go Karting for May - it'll
be the Crusaders against whoever is up for the
challenge. So pass the word around, get Mum
and Dad involved and for the rest of the senior
membership - lookout..........who dares wins....
It’s likely to be a bit expensive (around $100
for an afternoon on the track) when I post if
you let me know if your keen or not noting the
cost ASAP that would be great.
Can we also make a big effort to get to the club
Gala Dinner. It'll be a great night to catch up
and support the club.
You guys rock.....

Patrolling Information
It is now coming to the end of our season, and I thank all patrolling members
for a great job and their service to the community.
During the month of April SLSWA has asked if we can assist with additional
patrols including Easter. Our patrol members held a meeting to discuss this
opportunity and agreed to further assist our community by providing
volunteer support during April.
If you can spare some time to come down over the Easter break and the
weekends during April from 11 am to 2 pm, your assistance would be greatly
appreciated
There is a volunteer roster in the foyer in club so you can add your name or
you are more than welcome to come and join us on the beach.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to give me a call on
mobile: 0417 982 499 or drop me an e-mail on: [email protected].
All your volunteer hours are recorded and go towards your annual hour tally.
Many thanks
Rob Bates, Director of Lifesaving

I joined the Secret Harbour Surf Club as a member 10 years ago. During 2006 -2008
I was the bar manager and had a great time getting to know all the members and
developing a great atmosphere around the bar. At the time, I wanted to help out in
this area to allow the parents of the nippers and cadets an opportunity to focus
more on beach roles so they could be with their children. I left this role when I
myself became a father. For the last 3 years, I have been back, but on the beach
with my daughter Sophie. Although I am not in an official role, you will find me
down the beach doing flag races, tug of war, beach races, water safety and so
much more.
I have been in the mortgage industry for 20 years now. I am passionate about what
I do and ensuring that I am working for you to get the best deal I can in this very
competitive market.
The way that you and I will be helping the Surf Club is that 20% of the commission I
receive will go directly to the surf club on settlement of your loan. My service is
free to you and I come to your house day or night. I can help with new mortgages,
refinancing loans or consolidating loans into a mortgage. My phone is on 24/7 and I
am also happy to just answer any question you may have or give you a second
opinion. I pride myself on the ability to get loans approved so if you are having
troubles with a loan don’t give up until you have spoken to me.
If you are interested in speaking with me please call me on 0419 640 885 or email
me at [email protected]
