Diagnosing and Managing
Eating Disorders in Primary Health
Almost one million Australians have an eating disorder and one third of those are male.
General Practitioners are the first point of call for people who feel they or a loved one may have an
eating disorder.
However, eating disorders are extremely complex mental illnesses that require some level of

This comprehensive session delivered by experts in the field, will provide you with the skills to:
 Recognise the signs and symptoms of the different types of eating disorders
 Understand how to diagnose eating disorders
 Assess and manage physical risk in eating disorders
 Discuss treatment and referral options for eating disorder patients
