Introducing the new Taxes Paid scratch-off tickets from the North Carolina Education Lottery. Along
with millions in cash prizes, each game offers a top prize with the taxes paid! Whether you play the one
dollar ticket - $5,000 Taxes Paid, the two dollar ticket - $30,000 Taxes Paid or the five dollar ticket $100,000 Taxes Paid, if you win the top prize, the initial taxes are paid!
And all of the Taxes Paid scratch-offs are easy to play. Gently scratch away the latex covering on the play
area of the ticket to see if any of YOUR NUMBERS match the WINNING NUMBERS. Reveal symbols to

What does “initial taxes paid” mean?
The NCEL will pay the minimum mandatory required federal and state tax withholding as part of the
top prize of each of the three instant games: $5,000 Taxes Paid; $30,000 Taxes Paid; and $100,000
Taxes Paid.
The actual top prize value for $5,000 Taxes Paid is $7,353 which includes the minimum mandatory federal and state income tax withholdings. The NCEL will pay these required withholdings at the time of
winners’ claiming, and the winners can receive the net $5,000 top prize amount.*
The actual top prize value for $30,000 Taxes Paid is $44,118 which includes the minimum mandatory
federal and state income tax withholdings. The NCEL will pay these required withholdings at the time of
winners’ claiming, and the winners can receive the net $30,000 top prize amount.*

How to Claim
Your Winnings
SIGN THE BACK OF YOUR TICKET. The
ticket is a bearer instrument until signed.
Only original tickets will be accepted
to claim any prize.
Prizes under $600 may be claimed at
any NCEL retailer, NCEL headquarters, or
any NCEL office. Prizes between $600
and $99,999.99 must be claimed at NCEL
headquarters, any NCEL office, or by
mail. Prizes of $100,000 or more must
be claimed at NCEL headquarters.
A NCEL Winner Claim Form, proper
identification (ID), and the original ticket
must be provided for all claims $600 or
over. Proper forms of ID must verify: name,
signature, age and Social Security number.

The NCEL is not responsible for lost or
misdirected mail. The risk of mailing
tickets remains with the player.
In accordance with NCEL rules and
regulations, all instant game prizes must
be claimed within 90 calendar days of the
announced end of game date. A mailed ticket
must be received at NCEL Headquarters
or any NCEL office within 90 calendar
days. Postmarks shall not constitute
satisfaction of the 90 day requirement.
