Page 1 of 5 January 3, 2013 Represent a Client How to get your Rep ID _____________________________________________________________________________ H&R Block uses CRA’s Represent a Client system to ensure accurate preparation of a client’s tax return and the highest of client service. This document provides instructions on how to register for Rep ID with CRA. There are two ways to register for Rep ID – through My Account or Represent a Client. Register with CRA for Rep ID using Represent a Client feature This feature allows individuals to see their own CRA account and any other accounts for which they become representatives. To apply for access, you will need the internet, your SIN, your latest Notice of Assessment and some personal information. Go to the CRA home page and choose Represent a Client: © 2013, H&R Block Canada, Inc. Represent a Client – Rep ID Page 2 of 5 January 3, 2013 2. On the following screen you see the two options to log in: through a Sign-in Partner Login or CRA Login. We strongly recommend that you use the CRA Login. So, choose Register on the CRA Login side. 3. On the next screen you will need your access code from the Notice of Assessment and your postal code © 2013, H&R Block Canada, Inc. Represent a Client – Rep ID Page 3 of 5 January 3, 2013 To access the service anytime in the future, return to Represent a Client NOTE 1: If you have never filed a Canadian tax return and do not have a Notice of Assessment, you will not be able to use this service. NOTE 2: If you had a Rep ID before, you should be aware that CRA will transition to a single Rep ID and will not allow multiple ones. You should select the Rep ID that you want to keep. Represent a Client – Rep ID Page 4 of 5 January 3, 2013 Representative ID When you have your CRA user ID and password, the next step is to register for a Representative ID. A step by step explanation is also located on this page: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/esrvc-srvce/tx/rprsnttvs/ttrl/rc-ttrll-2-eng.html Once you have logged in on the CRA web site under Represent a Client and have answered the security question complete the following steps: 1. Go to the Register and Yourself section on the menu page 2. On the next screen you will find “Terms and conditions of use”, review these and select I agree 3. On the following screen select “clients of an accounting, tax preparation, payroll or other business” © 2013 H&R Block Canada, Inc. Represent a Client – Rep ID Page 5 of 5 January 3, 2013 4. Enter the information in the following screen. Select the “I am an employee…” option. a. Enter your full name b. Enter the district you are working in by entering “HRB – name of district Leave all other fields blank 5. Click Continue 6. Confirm that the information you entered is correct, select “I agree”. 7. The next page contains your new Rep ID. Print the page for your records. 8. Provide the Rep ID to your district manager. Once your Rep ID has been linked to the business by the district manager, you will be able to assist clients by viewing their most recent tax related information at CRA. © 2013 H&R Block Canada, Inc.
