A pair 10.00mm (US 15), (UK 000) Knitting
Needles or size that gives correct
tension.
MATERIALS
A Yarn Needle.
TENSION/GAUGE
9 sts and 13 rows to 10 cms/4 ins over
stocking st, using 10.00mm (US 15),
(UK 000) Knitting Needles.
Note - Correct tension/gauge is
essential for a successful handknit.
4th row - K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.
5th row - P1, * sl 1, K2tog, psso, P1, rep
from * to last 2 sts, K1, P1 = 13 sts.
6th row - K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.
Break off yarn leaving a long end. Run
end through rem sts, draw up tightly and
fasten off securely.
FINISHING
DO NOT PRESS. Using yarn needle, darn
in ends.
Using yarn needle and a flat seam, join
side edges together to form centre back
seam. Using remaining yarn, make a pom
pom and attach to top of hat as pictured.

Using 10.00mm (US 15), (UK 000) Needles,
cast on 47 sts.
1st row (RS) - P3, * K1, P3, rep from * to
end.
2nd row - K3, * P1, K3, rep from * to end.
Rep 1st and 2nd rows until work measures
18 cms/7 ins from beg, ending with a 2nd
row.
Shape crown - 1st row - P1, P2tog,
* K1, P2tog, P1, rep from * to end = 35
sts.
2nd row - K2, * P1, K2, rep from * to end.
3rd row - P2tog, * K1, P2tog, rep from *
to end = 23 sts.
