How to source continuous arbitrary waveform without any measurement

Agilent B2901/02/11/12A Precision Source/Measure Unit
How to source continuous arbitrary waveform without any measurement
This material shows how to setup the instrument to source continuous arbitrary waveform without any measurement
using the B2901/02/11/12A, through example to source continuous sine wave, the amplitude and the period of which
are 2 V and 1 s respectively. The waveform is created with 2,500 source data points in this example.
Figure 1 and Figure 2 show the timing chart for the continuous sine wave source. A cycle of a sine wave is created by the
List Sweep Mode of the B2901/02/11/12A with 2,500 source data points in TRIGGER layer. Then repeating a cycle of a
sine wave enables you to source a continuous sine wave by specifying ARM count to “Infinity”.

It is required to abort the instrument when you’d like to stop sourcing continuous arbitrary waveform.
This material also shows how to abort the instrument to stop continuous arbitrary waveform.

Preparing the source data list in advance
When you source some complicated waveform with the List Sweep Mode of the B2901/02/11/12A, it is convenient to
create the source data list on a PC using the software of your choice and then transfer the source data list file to the
B2901/02/11/12A via USB flash memory. TXT, PRN and CSV file format are available for source data list file.
Step 1.
Develop CSV file which includes 2,500 points source list data calculated by the formula below.
Step 2.
Save CSV file as “listdata.csv” to the root folder of your USB flash memory device.

Step 3. Attach the USB flash memory device which “listdata.csv” file is saved to the USB port on the front panel of the
B2901/02/11/12A.
Agilent B2900A Quick I/V Measurement Software is also available to edit the source data list for List Sweep Mode.
