How to arrive in Vitoria
The nearest major airport to Vitoria-Gasteiz is Bilbao Airport (see arriving information
from Bilbao to Vitoria below). Bilbao is accesible from many Spanish airports including
Madrid-Barajas as well as from European cities.
If you arrive to Madrid-Barajas Airport, you can take a bus to Vitoria-Gasteiz from the
airport. The bus operated by ALSA (http://www.alsa.es) departs from Madrid-Barajas
Terminal 4, and the ticket costs 27,25€. The journey takes about 4.5 hours. The bus
terminal in Madrid is located at Avda de America. From Madrid-Barajas Airport, you
can get to Avda de America by taking the metro line 8 to ‘Nuevos Ministerios’ and

By car
From Madrid / Burgos is accessed by the A1.
From the East (Pamplona), accessed through the N-240.
From the southeast (Zaragoza) is reached by the AP-68.
From Bilbao also the AP-68 can be taken that leads almost to Vitoria.

By bus
If you arrive to Bilbao Airport you can catch the urban bus service (Bizkaibus). Buses
depart from the airport between 6:15 and 00:00, every 30 minutes (Single ticket:
€1.35). This bus, takes you to the central Bus Station and from there, the journey to

Move around the city of Vitoria
Where you can leave the car to get into town
You have to choose between underground parking, parking, surface parking lots and
ride (easy access to public transport for easy access to the city center).
The best way to get around the city:
By Bike:
A good way to see the city is to do it by bike. At the moment there are 91 km of
streets or traffic lanes upgraded for cycling. The fastest and safest way to move
between two points in the city, is finding the bike paths. And if you do not have your
own bike, you can rent one and get lost in the many green spaces.

Before you get on the tram, you must purchase a ticket vending machines (expires in
50 minutes).

The buses have a frequency of approximately 10 minutes.
You can call to see how to get from one point to another of the city in the 010 or in the
945 16 11 00 if calling from outside of Vitoria-Gasteiz.
There is a night service on weekends, called the "Gautxori".
If you choose to get around by car
You must take into account the OTA (parking limited type):
The maximum stay is one hour and a half.
During the first 15 minutes OTA area is free(do not forget to get your parking tiket on
the meter and leave iside in the car in a visible place).
Throughout the Medieval Town residents can only park, even observe that the seats
are not painted in any color.
You have three types of parking spaces:
Blue line: limit of 90 minutes.
Green line: limit of 90 minutes.
Green line with the legend "Solo residentes-egoiliarrak” (residents only) parking is not
allowed to other individuals.
OTA schedules are:
Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:00 h. and 16:00 to 20:00 h.
Saturdays: from 10:00 to 14:00 h.
On Sundays and holidays OTA does not work. As a general rule, 5 to August 31 OTA
does not work either.
