Danube University Krems Center for Visual Studies How to reach us The Center for Visual Studies is located in the "Alte Burg” (old fortress) of Göttweig monastery. Donau Krems Mitte Danube B3 Vienna landing stage Mautern Melk > By car From Vienna B33 S33 St. Pölten Westautobahn (expressway) Wien - Linz Göttweig monastery You take the A22 (Donauuferautobahn) via Stockerau and Tulln. In Krems you take the S33 (Kremser Schnellstrasse) to St. Pölten. After about 1 kilometer you turn to Göttweig and follow the brown signboards to Göttweig monastery. • You drive on the A1 (Westautobahn) until St. Pölten, then take the S33 to Krems. Shortly before Krems you turn to Göttweig and follow the brown signboards to Göttweig monastery. • Under normal traffic and, depending on your exact place of departure, it will take you at least 1 hour to reach us. From Linz Take the A1 (Westautobahn) to St. Pölten, continue on the S33 (Kremser Schnellstrasse) to Krems. Shortly before Krems you turn to Göttweig and follow the brown signboards to Göttweig monastery. • Drive on the A1 to Melk, in Melk you take the B3 (northern bank of the Danube) or the B33 (southern bank of the Danube) to Krems. In Krems you drive on the S33 (Kremser Schnellstrasse) to St. Pölten. After about 1 kilometer you turn to Göttweig and follow the brown signboards to Göttweig monastery. This route takes a little more time but is very picturesque because it takes you directly through the Wachau. • Once you reach the top of the Stiftsberg (monastery hill) you turn left at the crossing (don’t drive in the direction of the restaurant). Please park your car in one of the oblique parking spaces along the street and inform us by phone of your arrival (02732 85581 ext. 235 or ext. 336). We will open the gate adjacent to the large convent gate. If you are transporting heavy objects you may drive your car into the courtyard. Exit Furth Göttweig Danube University Krems Center for Visual Studies > By public transport From Vienna to Krems • Trains go to Vienna (and depart from Vienna) every hour. The railway station in Vienna is called Franz Josefs-Bahnhof. All trains also stop in Heiligenstadt and Spittelau – both suburbs of Vienna. Express trains are available every two hours. The journey takes about an hour. The journey takes 35 to 55 minutes. You will find the full current time-table at www.oebb.at. > From Krems or Furth-Palt railway station to Göttweig monastery Taxi/Shuttle: The Göttweig monastery is a 10-minute drive from Krems railway station.
