KS95 - DUD TO STUD CONTEST
OFFICIAL RULES
1.
HOW TO ENTER: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. In order to enter, log on to
www.ks95.com, click on the "Dud to Stud" icon, and complete the entry form, which will
include giving one word which describes your man’s romance skills and in 100 words or
less tell us why your man is a Valentine’s Day Dud, your name, husband or boyfriend’s
name, email address, city you reside in, daytime phone number, email address and how
many year’s you’ve been together. Entries in this contest will be accepted from Friday,
January 25, 2013 through 9:00 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013. KS95 is not responsible
for problems completing the entry, technical or atmospheric conditions that disrupt the
completion of the entry, or any other problems which might or might not result from this
contest. Limit one entry per person; any person submitting more than one entry or an
entry longer than 100 words may be disqualified at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Limit one
finalist per household.
2.
HOW TO PLAY/HOW THE WINNERS ARE CHOSEN: In order to enter, log on to
www.ks95.com, click on the " Dud to Stud" icon, and complete the entry form as state in
Paragraph 1 above. Entries in this contest will be accepted from Friday, January 25,
2013, through 9:00 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013. From all eligible entries received,
the KS95 Morning Show in their sole and absolute discretion will choose twenty (20)
finalists based on the following judging criteria: who they believe are the biggest duds
(49%) and who needs the most help (51%). The top twenty (20) highest scoring entries
will be deemed Finalists. In the event of a tie, the entry who scores higher in the needs
most help category will be deemed the winning finalist from among all tying finalists.
Each Finalist will be contacted by KS95 personnel via phone or email. In the event there
are less than twenty (20) qualified entries, KS95 reserves the right to select fewer than
twenty (20) Finalists at its sole and absolute discretion.
Each of the twenty (20) Finalists and her husband/boyfriend will need to present
themselves at the Mall of America Rotunda on Friday, February 8, 2013, at 6:00 p.m., to
be eligible for a chance to participate in the “find a heart” competition at 6:30 p.m.
Substitutes or stand-ins will not be allowed without KS95’s prior approval. Anyone
arriving after the competition has begun will not be allowed to participate. All
contestants eligible to compete must be eligible to win. All Finalists must sign a release
prior to competing. The boyfriend/husband of the twenty (20) Finalists will compete to
“find his heart” (a heart token) that will be hidden inside KS95’s Valentine’s Day cakes;
each man must be clothed in a KS95 t-shirt (provided on 2/8/13) and blindfolded and will
then attempt to “find their heart” token in one of the cakes; the men will have thirty (30)
minutes to find their token; the man that finds the heart token first will win the grand
prize; all other men/couples will receive a consolation prize. If more than one person
finds “his heart” token at the same time, KS95 will hold a random drawing of those tying
Finalists to determine the grand prize winner. If no one finds their token within the thirty
(30) minute time limit, KS95 will hold a random drawing of all twenty (20) finalists to
determine the grand prize winner.
3.
PRIZES:
a.
Grand Prize. There will be one (1) grand prize winner. The winner will receive
the following:
i.
A trip for (2) from Apple Vacations to Riviera Maya, Mexico, which will
include roundtrip charter air from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Riviera
Maya, Mexico, seven (7) nights hotel accommodations at Iberostar Paraiso
del Mar, transfers to and from the resort, non-motorized water sports, all
food/drinks and the assistance of an in-resort Apple Vacations
representative.
Trip is valid for travel through April 24, 2013.
Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”): $3,000. Any difference between the
stated ARV and actual ARV will not be awarded. All
departure/immigration
taxes,
insurance
and
fuel
surcharges
(approximately $320-$370 USD per person, subject to change) must be
paid by winner to Apple Vacations prior to departure. All other expenses
(including, without limitation, ground transportation other than hotel
transfers, telephone charges, optional excursions, spa treatments,
souvenirs, and all federal, state and local taxes (including applicable
income taxes)) incurred are the winner's sole responsibility. All vacations
are approved on a promotional basis and are subject to availability;
blackout dates do apply. Travel dates are final and will not be extended.
Travel is not permitted during holiday periods, including both five (5)
days prior to and after (such as Spring Break, and other U.S. government
holidays, i.e., Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, etc.). Trips are
non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Apple Vacations
reserves the right to substitute the vacation with another of equal value,
equal Apple rating or within the same hotel chain should any unforeseen
circumstance occur. Hotel to be determined by Apple Vacations. Trip is
valid for two (2) adults only per room and do not include any special
promotions. The winner and guest must travel together. No room
upgrades. Winner must be at least 21 years old. If the winner and/or
his/her guest miss the initial departure as scheduled, the winner will forfeit
the prize. If the winner and/or his/her guest are not present for the
designated return flight, he/she is solely responsible for his/her return to
Minnesota. The trip is subject to the policies, practices and procedures of
the hotel and airline.
ii.
One dozen roses, to be given to the winner’s girlfriend/spouse at the end
of the February 8, 2013, event at the Mall of America; ARV: $30.
iii.
A $200 gift certificate to W.A. Frost & Company; 374 Selby
Avenue, Saint Paul, the certificate is valid for February 14, 2013, only,
and must be used for a reservation made by KS95 for 7:00 p.m. on that
date at W.A. Frost & Company. The gift certificate is subject to the
policies, practices and procedures of W.A. Frost & Company. ARV: $200.
iv.
A certificate redeemable for two (2) complimentary dinner and show
tickets to any Main Stage production at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres;
winner will need to call the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres at 952-934-1525
for reservations; passes not good for the final week of a production’s run,
holidays including New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day or during the
month of December; certificates expires 18 months from January 8, 2013.
The passes have no cash value and are not redeemable for cash. The
certificates are subject to the policies, practices and procedures of the
Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. ARV: $150.
b.
Consolation Prizes. There will be up to nineteen (19) consolation prize
winners, awarded to the remaining non-winning Finalists present at the

“find a heart” competition. Must be present at the “find a heart”
competition and compete to receive a consolation prize. Each consolation
prize winner will receive a certificate redeemable for two (2)
complimentary dinner and show tickets to any Main Stage production at
the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres; winner will need to call the Chanhassen
Dinner Theatres at 952-934-1525 for reservations; passes not good for the
final week of a production’s run, holidays including New Year’s Eve and
Valentine’s Day or during the month of December; certificates expires 18
months from January 8, 2013. The passes have no cash value and are not
redeemable for cash. The certificates are subject to the policies, practices
and procedures of the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. ARV: $150.
All qualified winners must meet the eligibility requirements as set forth in Paragraph 5 of
these rules. All income taxes and other taxes are the responsibility of the winner (the
person who is nominated and receives the prize). A 1099 form will be submitted to all
appropriate taxing authorities, and by signing the Prize Release, each winner accepts the
prize, and even if the winner does not use the prize/trip, he/she will be responsible for the
applicable taxes.
4.
CLAIMING YOUR PRIZE: Each consolation winner will receive his/her prize at the
conclusion of the event at the Mall of America on Friday, February 8, 2013. If the
consolation prize winner is not at the end of the event at the Mall of America on February
8, 2013 to claim their prize, the prize will be forfeited and go unawarded. The grand prize
winner must claim his/her prize in person at KS95-FM, 3415 University Avenue, St.
Paul, Minnesota 55114, during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00
p.m.) within five (5) business days of the day he or she wins to verify that he/she is the
qualified winner. Failure of the grand prize winner to comply with this deadline shall be
deemed to be the grand prize winner’s forfeiture of his or her right to claim the grand
prize. When claiming a prize, each winner must prove that he or she is a qualified winner
by presenting identification acceptable to the sponsors (e.g., state driver’s license; state
issued identification card; valid passport with address verification; or birth certificate
with social security card and photo identification and address verification). If a winner
cannot prove he or she is the qualified winner, the prize will be forfeited. All unclaimed
prizes remain the property of sponsors. After claiming prize at KS95, winner will then
need to complete Apple Vacations Reservation Request Form (form must be received by
fax or mail at least 14 days prior to all requested departure dates; all requests not adhering
to this guideline will not be processed) and return via fax to (847) 631-2643, attention
Apple Promotional Bookings; via email at [email protected]; or via mail at
Apple Promotional Bookings, Apple Vacations, 101 Northwest Point Blvd., Elk Grove
Village, IL 60007 (reservations are not accepted on the phone or in-person) and follow
the proper booking procedures outlined in the Guidelines and Amenities Form. Once
Apple Vacations receives the Reservation Request Form, the winner will receive a
courtesy call or email confirming that Apple Vacations has received their Request Form.
Average time frame to receive a confirmation will vary due to highly traveled times of
the year. Allow an average 1-2 weeks on a charter/land package. Once trip is confirmed,
the reservation agent will email or fax a confirmation letter to the winner. Winner will
need to respond within the time stated on his/her confirmation letter with payment of
taxes and insurance. Once all fees are paid, winner will receive by mail from Apple
Vacations his/her travel vouchers for charter flight, transfers and hotel approximately 2-3
weeks prior to departure date. Once Apple Vacations has confirmed a trip, no changes
can be made. A cancellation will result in the forfeiture of trip. If winner contacts hotel
or airline, trip will be forfeited in full.

5.
ELIGIBILITY: Individuals must be 21 years or older to enter or be eligible to participate
or win and residents of Minnesota or Wisconsin. Employees of KSTP-FM, LLC,
Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc., Mall of America, Apple Vacations, WA Frost & Company,
and Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, including their subsidiaries, affiliates, parent or related
companies, and their immediate families, are not eligible to enter. Anyone participating
in this contest or claiming a prize in this contest in violation of these rules will be
disqualified from participating in KS95 contests for a period of one year.
6.
RELEASE; CONSENT TO USE LIKENESS, VOICE AND ADDRESS: The grand
prize winner must execute an affidavit of eligibility prior to awarding of prize. The grand
prize winner (a) agrees to release and indemnify KS95-FM, LLC, Hubbard Broadcasting,
Inc., Mall of America, WA Frost & Company, Apple Vacations and Chanhassen Dinner
Theatres (including their officers, directors, employees and subsidiaries, affiliates, parent
or related companies) from and against any and all liability, claims, damages and actions
arising directly or indirectly out of or sustained in connection with the awarding,
acceptance or use of the prize(s), (b) agrees that no sponsors or agents have made any
representation, warranty or guaranty relative to the prize, and (c) consents to the use by
the sponsors of this contest for promotional purposes only of his/her likeness and/or voice
(including the entry to the contest), and address (city and state) and his or her contest
entry without any additional compensation. By participating in this contest, each
participant agrees to the application of these official rules. Guest must be at least 21 years
of age. By accompanying the winner, a winner’s guest agrees to be bound by the terms of
these official rules, including the preceding release.
7.
WINNER LIST: For the name of the grand prize winner and consolation winners, send a
separate self-addressed, stamped envelope before March 29, 2013, to Winner’s List,
“Dud to Stud” Contest, KS95, 3415 University Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota 55114.
8.
MISCELLANEOUS: Decisions of the sponsors concerning any and all matters with
respect to this contest shall be final. The sponsors reserve the right to change these rules,
as well as the terms and conditions of this contest, without notice. If the sponsors
determine in their sole discretion that the integrity or fairness of this contest has been
corrupted in any manner, the sponsors reserve the right to terminate the contest and to
select a winner from among entries legitimately received prior to termination. The
sponsors reserve the right to change the prize values at any time, or to substitute prizes of
comparable value. Contest void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law. The
sponsors are not responsible for printing errors in the contest materials or these rules.
