Using FlipShare, you can now make videos and take snapshots much easier. To take a snapshot, first select
the video you want to take a snapshot of, then click snapshot.
A window will open where you first need to press play, then when you are at the spot where you want to
take the snapshot click pause, and then click save snapshot. A new window will appear where you have to
find the folder you want to save to, title the snapshot and click save.

Saving Flip Videos to Computer
As soon as you plug in your Flip Video Camera, your videos on your Flip will appear on the Flip Share
screen. Click the Unsaved icon on the left of the screen to see only the unsaved videos on your camcorder.
If you want to save all the unsaved videos from your Flip on the computer then click the All button at the
bottom left corner of the screen. If you want to save some, but not all videos, then hold down the Ctrl
button on your keyboard and with your mouse click the videos you want to be saved. The videos will be
shown with a blue border.
When correct videos are selected, click the Save to computer button at the bottom of your screen. The
videos will be saved under a new folder, usually labeled by the date. It may take several minutes to
complete saving. Do not remove Flip from the computer at this time. You can view the progress of the save
by looking at the bottom left corner of the screen.

Edit Video Clip
* Must be done prior to opening create movie
If you do not want to use the whole video for a movie, you must first edit the movie before you attempt to
create a movie using the video. Start by clicking on the little scissors button at the bottom right corner of
your chosen video.
This will open a window where you can drag the left and right trimmers to crop your film to the correct
length you would like.
**When saving new video, make sure you change the name so you don’t save over the original video. Click
Save as…
**If you want to trim two or more different parts of one video, you will have to crop and save them one at a
time. This is why you do not want to save over the original video.

Creating a Movie
To create a movie, first click on the Movie icon at the bottom right corner of the screen.
A new window will appear where you can drag and drop the videos you want to be included in the movie.
The order you drag and drop them is the order they will play in. You can change the sequence by dragging
and dropping the videos in to the desired order. When finished with this step click next.
In the next window you can choose if you want a title, credits, or the Flip icon to appear in your video.
Check the box next to each option on the left to have the option appear. Then in the black box directly to
the left of the title and credits option you may type the title and credits needed. Click next.
Note: You can preview your project by clicking play. This allows you to edit your project before a movie is
made.

In the next window you can choose whether to have no music, music from FlipShare, or an mp3 saved on
your computer.
**If adding an mp3, select the box highlighted below, then click browse. A window will pop up where you
can search through your computer files to find the saved audio. When the audio file is selected, press OK.
Click next.
Note: If you add music check the Music Options near the bottom of the screen.
In this last step you may title your movie and select the folder it will be saved to. When finished click
Create Movie.

In the bottom left corner of the screen you can see the progress of your video. Depending on how long the
video is it may take several minutes to complete.
Removing your Flip from USB port
It is important that you correctly remove your Flip, along with any other item that requires the USB port, in
order to prevent damage to your flip and to your computer. In the bottom right corner of your screen, find
the button that looks similar to the picture below and click on it. Then click on the white box that pops up
from the icon.
A window will open where you need to select the electronic to be removed. There may be more than one
option to remove. If it is not labeled as being the flip anywhere, select the Display device components at
the bottom right corner. Search for the Flip Video Camcorder and select it, then click stop. A new window
will open where you click OK. The Flip Camcorder will disappear from the hardware devices list when it is
OK to disconnect.
**Make sure the FlipShare program is closed or it may not let you disconnect the Flip Camcorder.

How to get the newest version of Flipshare
The easiest way is to plug your Flip Camera into your computer, and the upgrade should automatically start.
The second way is to go to www.theflip.com. In the right-hand corner hover over products, then select
Flipshare.
In the next window, select Upgrade Flipshare.
In the next page you are taken to you are required to type in your name and the Flip Video type you are
using. The upgrade will start after you confirm that you have a Flip Video Camera.
*Please make sure the district’s photo/video release form is signed for all students who are
present in the video.
