Starting from an initial business problem, you will understand how to solve it in a step-by-step approach as a Business Analyst with SAP Lumira, find insights with the data and share the results with other users instantly. In this session, we want to also - give you a larger view on how SAP Lumira can enter into your BI strategy and your BI deployment, especially in combination with SAP Lumira cloud. You will make your analysis using data coming from various sources (Multiple Excel files, OData sources) and you will come up with amazing information to share with your Management. We hope you will enjoy! The following diagram helps to understand the main steps of the procedure : Before you start this exercise: Download SAP Lumira from http://www.sap.com/trylumira Register your details and Download the Product. 2 Installation of SAP Lumira Desktop A share location for Lumira Desktop SW will be provided. Please follow the steps below to install SAP Lumira desktop. Double Click on SAPLumiraSetup.exe Click ‘Yes’ Click on ‘Next’ Accept the License Agreement and click on ‘Next’ 3 Select 2nd Option ‘Register with Existing SAP Lumira Cloud’ Note: Please get Lumira Cloud account details from the instructor. Enter Email and Password that you just received from the instructor and click ‘Next’ Click ‘Next’ 4 Installation Done!!! Click on ‘Finish’ 1: Acquire, Enrich and transform your data with SAP Lumira– publish a new data set Overview: Industry: Telecommunications This scenario highlights the Customer Behavior Analytics where the lead of a marketing campaign in the telecommunication industry can get a 360 view of demographics and usage of the plans devised for consumers. In this use case, we will acquire data from multiple excel spreadsheets, combine them, transform/cleanse the data, find insights using freeform exploration and share the results with SAP Lumira cloud. Excel File Telco_2013_Q1_Extract1 .xlsx Excel File Telco_2013_Q1_Extract2 .xlsx Excel File Plan Launch.xlsx SAP Lumira Cloud Dataset: Telco Final Analysis Using SAP Lumira Combine the sources into a unique dataset create new measures Publish the Lumira Cloud and share with others. 5 1: USE SAP LUMIRA TO ENRICH YOUR CORPORATE DATA - OFFERING BETTER INSIGHTS from ADDITIONAL DATA SOURCES Objective of this section is to understand how to connect from SAP Lumira to multiple data sources and merge them into a single dataset. The part 1&2&3 should last around 10-15 mins. Part 1: Launch SAP Lumira After you have installed SAP Lumira, click on the SAP Lumira shortcut on your desktop. The application opens up on its home page: 6 Part 2: Integrate the original dataset from Excel In this Part we will connect to the original dataset from the (Excel) and enrich it. This dataset, containing all the statistics of various data/voice for Q1-2013 , will be used as the data foundation for the rest of the exercise. Create a new document by clicking on “Acquire data” button in the home page. A popup window appears, select the Data Source Type Microsoft Excel and click on the next button Browse to the file “Telco_2013_Q1_Extract1.xlsx” and Click on “Create” button. When the acquisition gets over, click on the prepare tab on the top and note that the measures and dimensions of the data set are automatically categorized. 7 To add additional data sets, click on “Combine as” and click on Append. Repeat the same steps to acquire the 2nd excel spreadsheet: Telco_2013_Q1_Extract2.xls 8 When the data set is acquired, click on the Append button After this operation, the 2 data sets should be appended as one master data set. 9 Once done, you should be able to view and explore the dataset: 10 11 Part 3: Enrich the Excel dataset with Time and Geographic hierarchies In this step we will leverage the semantic enrichment functionality. SAP Lumira enables you to create very easily Time and Geographic hierarchies available for navigation in the visualizations.. Step1: Time Hierarchy In the Object Picker, bring your mouse over “Service_Date”, click on the cog wheel and select “Create a Time hierarchy” The new Time hierarchy appears within the Hierarchies area in the object picker: 12 Step2: Geographic Hierarchy Bring your mouse over “City” and click on the Cog wheel; select hierarchy…”: Use Name A popup window appears: “Create a Geographic 13 In the Region dropdown, select “STATE” and in the city dropdown select “CITY” Once this is done, click “Confirm”, the following appears: You can see the cities in the dataset have been automatically identified. Since there are no Ambiguities to resolve click on OK and note that a Geo Hierarchy has already been created in the Attributes panel 14 With geographic dimensions, you can represent your data within maps and drill up and down. Objective of this part is to understand the added value of the Hierarchical geographical enrichment by creating a new chart displaying interesting measures through a world map. In this following example, you will display the flight cancellations split by Meteorological events for each town. Step1: Set your graph Click on the Visualize Tab and select the Geo Pie Chart in the dedicated list Drag and drop the following data: Postpaid_revenued in the Geo Feature Values Region as a geo feature & And is_roaming as geo-feature analysis. Once the chart is rendered, click on the Save button. 15 Part 4: Incorporate additional data (from an Excel source file) In this Part we will integrate a new dataset from another Excel file. This dataset contains the weather conditions during the flights contained in the original dataset. The part 4&6 should last around 10 mins. Step1: Import the data- Plan_Launch.xls into SAP Lumira Back in SAP Lumira : click on the Prepare tab , click on Combine as and choose “Merge” on the top-right of the application in order to add a new dataset: The following window appears: 16 Click on the Add New Dataset button and Select the data source type “Microsoft Excel”. On the next window, browse the file \Plan Launch.xlsx;” and click “Create”: Now, click on Service_plan_name in the Current and Lookup dataset and click on merge. 17 After you click on merge, the new columns in the secondary data set are merged with the master dataset in SAP Lumira. 18 2: USE SAP LUMIRA TO ENRICH AND TRANSFORM THEM INTO USEFUL INFORMATION Objective of this part is to explain how to perform : Data Manipulation and Cleansing, Creation of new measures and attributes Creation of visualizations highlighting the useful information The part 1&2 should last around 12 mins. Part 1: Data Manipulation and cleansing Click on service_plan_name in the prepare tab Click on cogwheel Click on Duplicate and rename the new column to PLAN_GROUP Click on Named group in the data manipulation panel. Type Data in the search area. Select all the Data plans, Repeat the steps for Talk and Messaging keywords and group them as Talk Plan and Messaging Plan. Finally click on App Store Content Plan and "Replace Selected values" with Content Plan. 19 Search for State in the search box above object picker. Click on State Attribute then click on named group in the data manipulation panel on the right. 20 Move to visualize room and add Grouped STATE in filter in the previously saved viz. Search for Coast and apply filters. Save the viz. Go back to Prepare room. Take a look at Age_Group column. Select Age group then click on 55-64. Replace the 55-64 to Baby Boomers. 21 Part 2: Creation of calculated measures and attributes Click on Calculated Attribute Create a new calculated attribute ‘Range’ 22 Click on calculated measure Create a new measure PostPaidRev 23 We have cleansed and manipulated the source data, created new calculated attributes and measures, named group. Data preparation is done. 24 Part 3: Visualize your data The key benefit of SAP Lumira is this possibility to go end to end from data acquisition to visualization within the same tool. After all these preparation steps, it is time to explore the additional information. Click on create new visualization + sign. Choose Stacked Column Chart then Click on the Shelf Picker and pick the new calculated measure we created in previous step ‘PostPaidRev’. Also add ‘PREPAID_REVENUE’ and enriched calculated attribute ‘Plan_group(2)’ in Axis Labels. Save the viz. And then Save the document from File menu. This Viz shows PostpaidRev is contributing most to revenue And Data plan is the most popular. We will like to know more how PostPaidRev contribution by states. Click on create new visualization + sign. Click on GEO Choropleth chart.You can hold the mouse to move the GEO MAP, zoom in and out. 25 This view shows distribution of PostPaidRev by region. Click on Show Data Labels to reflect data Labels on the map. We can see PostPaidRev by all regions or states of the regions. Now, we like know top 5 regions. Click on Rank Values as shown below.Rank Top 5 Region. 26 Save the Viz and Document. This viz shows top 5 PostPaidRev making regions. We already know data plan is most popular, now we like to find out top performing data plans. Click on Tree Map and replace Region with Plan_Group Click on the cogwheel on the viz tray and click Save As as seen below. 27 28 3: USE SAP LUMIRA TO AUTHOR A STORY AND SHARE IMPACTFUL INSIGHT TO YOUR BUSINES USERS Objective of this part is to explain how to perform: Create a Storyboard Share Dataset to Lumira Cloud Explore and visualize the share dataset in Cloud Part 1: Create Storyboard We learned that Post Paid contributes most to revenue. Data plan is most popular across regions and age group. And California contributes most revenue and Texas is not far behind. But how can you share this insight in most simple and eloquent way to your business users. Here is how, Click on Compose and you will notice all saved vizs are available in the viztray. We are about to creating a story. Each Story can have multiple pages like a storybook call Board. First we provide title to the story and board. Now we will organize the story book with previously created visualizations – by simply dragging and dropping. First Drop the bar Chart then Geo chart as shown below. 29 Now, you need to drop the Treemap in the board on the right 30 It is time to add to attributes in controls. Drag and drop Age_group, IS_PAID attributes from object picker into the controls pane similar way like visualizations. 31 Save the story and the document. Click ‘Yes’ in Background color, click on ‘Pick a color’. Pick your color the background will change. Story Board is ready. Collapse the object picker and manipulation tool. Change it to View Mode. 32 Now if you are wondering what is most popular plan among the Baby Boomers then it is 2000 min talk plan. Texas has more Baby Boomers subscribers than California. This insight will definitely help to design the next promotion for Baby Boomers. Save the Story and document. Part 2: Share Dataset to Lumira Cloud So far you have acquired & combined multiple datasets, enriched and transform data in preparation for visualize and gain impactful insights. You have also created meaningful story board. Now, you will publish the dataset to Lumira Cloud. To publish the dataset, simply go to ‘Share’ Room. Select the Telco_2013_Q1_Extract1 file and click on ‘Publish to Lumira Cloud’ 33 Enter your Lumira Cloud credentials you have received from the instructor. You can change the default dataset name. You can add a description of the dataset. When ready click on ‘Publish’ to publish the dataset. 34 Now, you need use your browser and log in to Lumira cloud. https://cloud.saplumira.com/ Once you log on, you should see the dataset you have published. Click on the cogwheel and Explore 35 Explore opens Vxtab for exploration and visualization. Click on ‘Analyze’ and then ‘Geomap’. Switch to List Mode. Drag and drop latitude and longitude in ‘Latitude’ and ‘Longitude’. Drag Postpaid_Rev in ‘Values’ Drag and Drop Age_Group in ‘Color’ 36 Click on Grouped STATE and select values ‘East Coast’ And ‘West Coast’ You should now see it applied filter for East Coast and West Coast. 37 Click on Save and give a name and hit OK . Your visualization is saved. You can explore it again. Now you are ready to share you visualization with the student next to you. Click on the Cogwheel and Share Enter the Lumira cloud account email id of the student next you. You can also provide View or Edit Permission to viz to your classmate. 38 This is the end of our session; if you have some times left we encourage you to find new insights and create new story using Telco data.
