Being a fairley new rider, I
debated whither or not to ride in
the Blue Steel Poker Run. The
Run goes up into the Malibu hills
and there are quite a few twisties.
I had ridden to the Rustic Canyon
Store before, but that was with a
small group of friends and was
told we rode one of the easier
ways there and back. Even though
I decided not to ride, I wanted to
particiate, so I decided to work a

Chris and

Safety
by Big John Baldwin
Don’t Use Shiny Products On Your Motorcycle Tires!
Your motorcycle only has 2 tires on the road, not four like your car. Shiny products applied to your tires means
you’re probably going to fall down on your way out of the driveway.
Don’t use Turtle Wax’s Wet-N-Black or Any ArmorAll Spray or Liquid on your Motorcycle
Tires! Also, Be careful riding near Comercial Car Wash business. When ArmorAll is applied to
the car tires at a Car Wash, a lot of it runs down into the tire treads. This excess ArmorAll runs
off the car tires as soon as the car leaves the car wash and drives onto the street. Most cars at car
washes are also sprayed with liquid wax during the wash process. This excess wax also runs into
the street as the car is driven. Be careful riding by car washes even at night when they are closed. The
night-time moisture will make that armorall/wax coated street even more slippery. Respectfully submitted,
Big John

what owning a harley means to me
by Tammy Tucker
What Owning a Harley Means To Me
All my life I had dreamed of owning my own Harley. When I was younger, sure I had boyfriends with motorcycles that I rode with. And after taking a spill on my friend John’s bike I knew I never wanted to be on the back
again. If I was going down it would be on my own accord.
After years of raising my family and after losing my parents within six weeks of each other I decided it was high
time I start living my dream before it was to late for me. I didn’t want to look back and regret not having done
something that meant so much to me.
I decided to take the MSF class since I myself had never street rode before. That was one of the best decisions I
ever made, it taught me endless valuable information and only took a couple weekends. After passing the written
and field tests I went to the DMV and took their written test which I passed with no problem. Now I was ready
to rent a bike for my first ride. I waited until a weekend when my husband and son were out of town since they
were not so thrilled with the idea of me riding motorcycle. (Couldn’t let that stop me from living my dream,
right. They’ll come around I figured.)
So needless to say my sister Angie and I picked up the bike, with her on her fat boy and I on a dyna low rider,
we headed north up the coast early one October morning. By the
time we reached Malibu I felt like this was something I had been
doing my whole life, it just felt natural. The new profound sense of
freedom and youth it has given me is indescribable! I knew from that
moment in time that this was my new passion in life.
I though I would take my time and look in the cycle trader at bikes
for a few months but my friend Jim Dorsey called me about a bike
in the Daily Breeze, so I decided to take a look. One look, at one
bike and who knew the bond that would transpire. I had to have that
beautiful shiny 100 Year Anniversary Low Rider!! I owned my first
Harley Motorcycle (or bike period for that matter) within weeks of
getting my license. It seemed too crazy.
But then, I wanted and needed to join a riding club to meet people
with the same passion. So living in the South Bay I joined their
chapter and the rest is history. I have met the most awesome group
of people to hang out with and we are truly a unique family. I feel
blessed to be a part of it all and if I did have any regret it would be
that I didn’t do it sooner. But then again you do it when the time is
right for you and this is my time so remember . . . Live to ride Ride
to live. To be continued.
Tammy
P.S.
As for my husband and son, it’s growing on them and they eventually will get use to the idea because what
choice do they have now! And my daughter, she thinks its pretty bad ass. She gives me great biker gifts like the
one in this picture for Mothers Day!

Meeting was called to Order
general meeting
September 2007
John Baldwin – Director
• We are nominating for next year’s officers this month. There are 3 positions available.
• The Director for next year is Mike Hamilton. And the Secretary is Jan Kojdecki.
• The three positions we will nominate tonight are Assistant Director, Treasurer, and LOH. • Still have motorcycle raffle tickets for
sale.
Mike Hamilton – Assistant Director
• Points are for not only rides, but also for people who volunteer for the BBQ and other functions.
• Membership for the Chapter. If you have not registered by December 31st, you are not a member. Any ride starting in January
you will have to sign in as a non-member. The registration will go up $10 (late fee) if you renew in January instead of December.
Terri Pickering – Treasurer • Positive beginning balance – Positive ending balance
Rob Burrows – Webmaster
• If you post 5 points in the blog you get 1 point. “Macho Taco” has posted more than anyone, thank you for your support.
• Rochelle Baldwin and Robert AKA Bear are also posting a lot on the blog. Don Wiseman also posted 10.
• There is also a recipe section in the blog for bikers. Please add recipes if you have one.
• Requested new members stand up and introduce themselves
Donna Krska – Ladies of Harley
• Thanked everyone for attending the picnic. Eight people got all items on the scavenger hunt right.
• The Pirate ride was a lot of fun. LOH will try to do a different ride like that every year.
• LOH is going to make a journal for Ladies that ride. LOH will have sheets to fill out on rides that you take to put in the journal.
Doug Hamilton – Activities
• Bike Fest is this Sunday. Blue Steel Run, asking for volunteers at Lawndale Cycle and Rustic General Store.
• The Christmas party will be at the VFW club this year on December 1st. Tickets will be $25
There is going to be a Christmas Toy Run this year. Peggy Collins went over the details. There will be two stops, the first is the
Rainbow Shelter and Lynwood Worship Center. Bike night is ending September 25th. If the Chapter wants it to continue, we
need more volunteers. Dealer BBQ’s going through October.
John Baldwin – Safety Officer • Recommends a solid visor on your helmet instead of a clear visor. Also have both clear and
dark sunglasses.
Mike Bruni – Ride Coordinator • Went over ride calendar. • Walt received his Road Captain braids.
Bob Duhe – Asst. Ride Coordinator • Introduced outstanding members • Went over the up coming trip to Alcatraz.
Chris Paturzo
• Chris wanted to thank everyone in the Chapter for donating blood for his son, and all of the support he and Margaret received.
