The Independent Living Centre
offers a free and impartial
equipment advice and
assessment service for people
wanting to maintain
independence at home, work or
leisure. It is funded by Devon
County Council and the Northern
Devon Healthcare NHS Trust.
Our equipment specialist

INNOVATIONS Event
We have handpicked the best and
latest innovations in equipment
for independence, and brought
them to Devon for our
‘Innovations Event’ on
Thursday 27th March 2014 at the
Indoor Bowling Club, Isca
Centre, Summerway Lane,
Whipton, Exeter, EX4 8NT
The event will run from 10am –
12.30pm, and will include
demonstrations of new designs in
beds, personal care, eating and
drinking, environmental controls,
telecare, mobility and transfer
equipment, see our website for
more details. The event is free
and open to all; drop in any time
during the morning, but remember
to book your place in advance
for the workshop on ‘Telecare
and Environmental Controls’
New equipment
At our permanent demonstration
centre in Newton Abbot,
alongside our regular displays of
equipment for independence, we
are always on the lookout for any
new gadgets on the market. Our
latest innovations in the centre
are: the ‘Sturdy Straw’; a table
clamp and straw holder invented
here in Devon to hold a drink
straw in a convenient position for
independent drinking

have the ‘Stabilo’ vacuum shape
modelling cushion, ideal for
adding some postural support
when seated in a standard chair,
wheelchair or car seat, have a
