How to Create
Personal and Team
Fundraising Pages on
StayClassy
The Mid-Atlantic State
2
Dear fellow Junior Statesmen and Stateswomen,
My name is Roberto Ruiz, and I am the Mid-Atlantic State Director of Scholarships.
JSA conventions are life-changing experiences. These conventions serve as the first
steps in a lifelong commitment to civic engagement and sometimes even a career in politics.
Yet, across the Mid-Atlantic State, some students cannot attend conventions due to financial
constraints. To alleviate this problem, the Mid-Atlantic State Scholarship Program was
created last year to provide scholarships to help students get to conventions. Chapters are
also encouraged to raise funds to lower the costs of convention attendance for all members.
Both of these fundraising initiatives utilize a website called StayClassy. StayClassy is
an innovative, easy-to-use website that enables donors to make secure, online donations to
organizations of their choosing. Furthermore, StayClassy enables organizations to track their
donations, thank their donors, and solicit additional donations. JSA fundraisers across the
country use StayClassy with great success.
In order to use StayClassy, you must create a StayClassy account and fundraising
page. You will be able to join the Mid-Atlantic JSA Scholarship Fund team as a state
fundraiser, or join you chapter team as a chapter fundraiser. If your chapter does not
currently have a team, contact your chapter president and direct him/her to page six of this
guide, which includes instructions for setting-up a team page.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns about how to use StayClassy, the
Scholarship Fund, or the fundraising process, do not hesitate to contact me, Allison, Simran
or Sarika.
Keep it Classy, MAS,
Roberto Ruiz
Director Of Scholarships

Creating a Personal Page
Step 1: Open your Internet browser and log-on to
fundraise.jsa.org.
Step 2: Click on the “Start Fundraising” button.
Step 3: Select “Chapter and State Fundraising.”
Step 4: Complete the following form, or sign-up using your
Facebook account.
5
Step 5: Name your personal page. Is it recommended that
you use your name, followed by then your chapter name: for
example, Roberto Ruiz - Leonia High School.
Step 6: Set an ambitious, but attainable fundraising goal that
will challenge yourself to meet your chapter’s financial needs.
Step 7: Customize your page by uploading a picture of
yourself at JSA and writing about your personal JSA story.
Step 8: Customize your page’s URL. Your URL should
appropriately describe your team and be easy to mention in
conversation. Fundraise.jsa.org/leoniaJSA is a great example.
Step 9: If your chapter president already has created a team
page, you should join your chapter's team. If not, you can
select "no thanks" when asked to join a team. You can join a
team later if your Chapter President makes one (see below for
instructions).
Step 10: Enter your shipping and home addresses.
Step 11: Hit save and finish. It is only necessary to fill-out the
boxes with red stars next to them. The
Company/Website/Blog boxes should not be completed.
You will see a similar screen as the one below.
Congratulations, you have created your StayClassy page!

Creating a Team Page
Step 1: On the right-hand side, you will see this button. Click
on it.
Step 2: Select the “Create a Team” option.
Step 3: Give your team a team name, such as Leonia High
School JSA or LHS JSA.
Step 4: Choose an ambitious, but
attainable fundraising goal that will
meet your chapter’s financial needs. If
many chapter members will be
fundraising, a goal of at least $1000
dollars is recommended.
Step 5: Customize your page by
uploading a picture of your chapter and
writing about your chapter’s personal
JSA story.
Step Six: Click “Create My Team.”
7
Optional TinyURL Steps:
StayClassy does not allow you to create a custom URL for a
team page. Instead, you can make a custom URL cat the
website www.tinyurl.com
Step One: Log on to www.tinyurl.com.
Step Two: Copy and paste your Team URL into this box.
Step Three: Choose a custom alias.
Step Four: Select “Make TinyURL.”

Ways to Spread the Word
Method One: It is strongly recommended that you use
StayClassy’s built-in sharing tolls. StayClassy has links to
share your page via Facebook and Twitter. It also has an
email function that is incredibly useful. It provides a simple
and easy-to-use template for mass emails to potential donors.
All of these tools are accessible from your StayClassy page.
Method Two: When people donate to your page, encourage
them to share your page on Facebook to help spread the
word. They should post the link to your page and a brief
statement about why they donated and/or about what JSA
means to you and your chapter. Do not forget to use the
hashtag #bethepeople!
Method Three: When people donate to your page, encourage
them to share your page on Twitter to help spread the word.
Give them the TinyURL to minimize character usage. Do not
forget to use the hashtag #bethepeople!
Method Four: Recruit as many individuals to make pages and
advertise your fundraising initiative. If your chapter members
are willing and able to fundraise, they should all make
accounts, too. More motivated team members will result in
more donations!
Method Five: Also give your parents your page’s URL. They
can share it with their friends and coworkers.
