How to set up 10amp Temp Controller for Distillation – With retro fitted power
down switch.
Retro Fitted Power
Down Switch. (any
240V switch can be
used here. Can
purchase from
Jaycar for couple of
dollars)
Installing a temp controller with a power down switch will mean that when your
10amp temp controller reaches a specific temperature the temp controller will turn off
completely and not turn back on again until you reset the controller using the switch
again.
Below is the standard wiring for the 10amp temp controller.
Below is the modified wiring diagram with the retro fitted power down switch.
As you can see from the diagram above the temp controller power will be off until the
retro fitted switch is turned on. Once the relay to power up terminal 1 of the temp
controller is activated the retro fitted switch can be turned off. This will mean that you
can leave the temp controller to complete the distillation process and when the target
temperature that you set in the controller is reached the element and temp controller
will all power down and not turn back on again. This is perfect if you want to
automate the distillation process.
