How to find Crisis Skylight

done.”
NEW YEAR
NEW YOU
What we offer
Doing something enjoyable every day
will help you feel better and get you
into a positive routine. We offer more
than 100 workshops, classes and dropin sessions every week, including:
arts and crafts, book club, cooking, counselling,
creative writing, drama, English, film, gardening,
IT, karate, maths, painting, ping pong,
photography, puppetry, script writing and yoga.
You can find out when and where the sessions
are by looking at the timetable over the page.
But how can Crisis help me?
We know that everyone is different. That’s
why, alongside the classes and sessions
we have on offer, you could also have the
chance to work one-to-one with a member
of our team. They are here to listen to your
hopes and needs, and guide you, step by
step, until you get to where you want to be.
• Our Progression Coaches can tell you
the right place to get help with benefits,
hostels and money problems. They can
also help you find a doctor or dentist.
• When you have been with us for a
while you could meet a Job Coach who
could support you to find work.
• Towards the end of your journey through
Crisis, you could meet a Housing Coach
who could help you find a home to rent.
We also run safe,
supportive womenonly classes and
sessions (marked
on the timetable
with a ‘W’)
Tony' s story...
How to get our help
“When I was made homeless I went on a
downward spiral. I was in a rut. I wanted to work,
but couldn’t get a job because of my record.
I started volunteering in the Crisis Skylight Café
and it was the best thing I could have done. I
looked forward to going there from my hostel
every day. It made me all kind of happy.
Monday to Thursday, 9am-7pm
Friday 9am-6pm
Saturday and Sunday, 11am-5pm
When I first came to Crisis Skylight they asked
what I wanted to do. I said, ‘I could do with
doing a basic computer course’. In the end
I did every course there was going! It was a
big help to get out, have a laugh again.
To become a Crisis Skylight member,
come to reception at 66 Commercial Street
(map over the page) at 3pm any day from
Monday to Friday. We will show you around
and tell you more about how we can help
you. Then you will be ready to start our
sessions and activities.
Opening hours
Class enrolment days
Now I’ve got a job. I’m working 30 hours a week
in a bar. I wouldn’t have been able to do it on my
own. Crisis just sparked everything being good.”
Some of our classes lead to qualifications.
You will need to enrol on these any day from
Monday 6 January to Friday 10 January
between 10am and 4pm.
If you have any questions, or would
like more information about any of
our activities or services, just speak
to a member of our friendly reception
team. Or you can call 0300 636 1967.
If you would like to join one of these courses
after term has begun, speak to a member of
our reception team who will be able to tell
you how to find out if there is still space in
the class.
For courses that don’t lead to qualifications,
you can join any weekday at 3pm.
