Nagios XI – Setup Nagios XI to Send SMS Alerts The Industry Standard in IT Infrastructure Monitoring Purpose This document describes how to setup SMS alerts and how to manage mobile carriers in Nagios XI. Notifications by SMS must be enabled per user in Nagios XI. Receiving SMS alerts allow users to get updates about their Nagios XI system via their mobile phone. Target Audience This document is intended for use by Nagios XI Users and Administrators who wish to enable notification by mobile phones from Nagios XI. Additional Resources In addition to this document, Nagios XI users and administrators can refer to the Nagios XI SMS Alerting System document, provided by the Nagios community. Setting Up SMS Alerts In Nagios XI SMS Alerts can be set from the Configure menu in the Nagios XI web interface. Go to the My Account Settings on the left menu screen, then click on Notification Methods. Specify your preferred notification method (Mobile Text in this case), enter your mobile phone number and your mobile phone carrier. Don't forget to click the empty checkbox next to the Mobile Phone Text Message. Note, notifications must be enabled per user in Nagios XI. Managing Mobile Carriers You can manage mobile carriers in Nagios XI by accessing the Admin menu and selecting Manage Mobile carriers from the left menu screen. On this page you can edit your existing mobile carries and add custom carriers if necessary. This is useful if you use a local SMS gateway or if your mobile carrier is not defined in the default list that comes with Nagios XI. After you have entered all of the required information, press Update Settings and proceed with setting up your SMS alerts, described above. Finishing Up You have now set up your user to receive text messages from Nagios XI.
