Leica SmartWorx Viva – How to Establish a Bluetooth® Connection with a Viva CS Controller and a TPS1200 Instrument TPS1200 Firmware Version 8.10 Viva CS Controller Firmware Version 4.00 NOV11 The connection Bluetooth (BT) from Viva CS controller requires only to configure one communication interface on the TPS1200 and then to step through the TPS Connection Wizard on the CS controller. The CS controller and the TPS1200 must be paired by a BT connection in order for the system to perform properly. TPS1200 Settings To configure the cable connection on the TPS 1200…. Start at the main menu and choose 5 Config… Next, choose 4 Interfaces… © 2011 G360, LLC – All rights reserved In the Interfaces listing highlight the GeoCOM Mode interface and select F3 (EDIT)… In the GeoCOM mode page set the Use Interface: field to Yes and the Port: field to Port 3(BT). Next, select the F5 (DEVCE) function key. In the Devices listing select F6 (PAGE) until you are viewing the Others page. Highlight the RS232 GeoCOM device and select F1 (CONT) to accept this setting Page | 2 Select F1 (CONT) again until you are viewing the Interfaces listing. Please make sure that the only interface that has a Port number listing in the middle Port column is the GeoCOM mode. Your configuration should be the same as shown. Select F1 (CONT) unitl you return to the main menu CS Controller Settings The CS controller and the TPS12000 need to be paired via Bluetooth. In this relationship the TPS1200 will always be the slave (device to be controlled) and the CS controller will always be the master (device which completes and controls the pairing). The process to search for the TPS1200 via BT and the pairing procedure is simple. From the main menu on the CS controller select Instrument… Page | 3 Next choose Connections… Next, choose TPS connect wizard.. Page | 4 Follow the prompts of the Wizard by first setting the Manufacturer: field to Leica, the Model: field to TPS1200, and the Connect using: field to Bluetooth. Select F1 (NEXT) to continue. The next screen should display the defult communication parameters for the TPS1200. You can make sure these are set to the correct defuault values by selecting F4 (Default). Finally select F1 (Next) Page | 5 You should see the Viva icon briefly in the middle of the screen as the CS makes the final connection to the TPS1200. Once the TPS1200 is located the name and serial number of the TPS1200 will be displayed. Select F1 (NEXT) to accept the TPS1200 for the Bluetooth pairing. Once the connection is made the system will display that the connection to the total station was successful. Select F1 (Finish) to return to the main menu. Page | 6 The instrument icon will now be displayed without a warning and will show a Bluetooth connection symbol next to the TPS instrument icon. When the instrument is connected via Bluetooth the TPS instrument icon will always have the small Bluetooth icon displayed on the right corner.
