How to Make a Rampages Account and Set Up a New Blog
Step 1: Go to http://rampages.us. Click the button that says “Set up a new account or make a new blog.”
Step 2: Enter a username and your email address. Leave “Gimme a site!” selected. When you are done, click “Next.”
Your username can be anything; it does not have to be your VCU
username. If your teacher has given you special username instructions,
please be sure to follow them.
Your email address must be your VCU email address. This is how
you prove to Rampages that you are a member of the VCU
community. If you do not use your VCU email, the signup will
not work correctly.
Step 3: Choose a name/url for your blog and a title, and enter them in the appropriate boxes. If your teacher has given you special
instructions about this, please make sure to follow them. When you are done, click “Next.”
Your site name, which is the blog’s url, is permanent and cannot be changed. If you
want a different url in the future, you will have to create a new blog and move your
content from the old blog to the new one.
Your site title, which appears at the top of your blog, can be changed
whenever you want from your blog’s dashboard.
These privacy settings change who can have
access to your blog. These can be changed at any
time from your blog’s settings menu. Right now,
just leave them like this unless your teacher has
given you special instructions.
Step 4: You will get a confirmation page that looks like this.
Step 5: Open your VCU email. You will get an email that looks like this, asking you to click an activation link. It is highlighted
below. Please click this link.
Step 6: You will see an Account Activated page. It will ask you to log in with your username and password. This password will
come to you in a second email from Rampages.
Step 7: Look for the password email from Rampages. Highlight and copy the password you are given. Use it to log in from
http://rampages.us by clicking the “Log in” button. From there, you should follow the directions to change your password to
something secure.
Step 8 (alternate directions): You might get a password email from Rampages that looks like this. In this case, click the “change your
password” link below:
Step 9: Clicking the “password reset” link will get you to this page. Enter your username or email, and a new password will be
emailed to you. Next time you log in, use that password.
Step 10: Change your password to something secure. To do that, log in to Rampages. Hover your mouse cursor over your username
in the upper right. You will see “Edit My Profile.” Click that.
Step 11: Click “Settings.”
Step 12: Enter a password you like. When you have entered it in both “New Password” and “Repeat New Password,” click “Save
Changes.”
You are done! Your blog should be set up and ready for you to customize.
