Legal Internship Job Description What is the Rocky Mountain Victim Law Center? The Rocky Mountain Victim Law Center (RMvlc) is statewide, grant-funded, nonprofit organization designed to provide victims of violent crimes with a meaningful and positive interaction with the criminal justice process. RMvlc represents victims to ensure their rights are upheld during the course of a criminal case. Some victims seek out RMvlc to help them navigate through the complexities and potential pitfalls of the criminal justice system. Other victims want us to provide independent legal advice, protect their privacy rights, or litigate on their behalf. Victims of violence deserve the same support, rights, and representation that defendants receive in the criminal justice system. It is our mission to increase legal options for victims of violence. What do Legal Interns Do at RMvlc? Legal interns will be expected to conduct legal research, draft legal briefs and motions, create training materials for appropriate agencies in the criminal justice system, attend court proceedings with RMvlc attorneys, and provide assistance for law enforcement and victim advocates. What type of experience and qualifications do I need? Ideal Legal intern candidates will have strong research and writing skills, an understanding of the criminal justice process, a desire to work with victims of violent crimes, a desire to work with a non-profit administration, good organizational skills, and a general motivation to change the world. What are the expectations and compensation? Fall and Spring internships and externships are part-time, unpaid positions. Summer internships and externships are full-time, unpaid positions.
