Legal Internship Job Description
What is the Rocky Mountain Victim Law Center?
The Rocky Mountain Victim Law Center (RMvlc) is statewide, grant-funded, nonprofit
organization designed to provide victims of violent crimes with a meaningful and positive
interaction with the criminal justice process.
RMvlc represents victims to ensure their rights are upheld during the course of a criminal
case. Some victims seek out RMvlc to help them navigate through the complexities and
potential pitfalls of the criminal justice system. Other victims want us to provide
independent legal advice, protect their privacy rights, or litigate on their behalf. Victims
of violence deserve the same support, rights, and representation that defendants receive in
the criminal justice system. It is our mission to increase legal options for victims of
violence.
What do Legal Interns Do at RMvlc?
Legal interns will be expected to conduct legal research, draft legal briefs and motions,
create training materials for appropriate agencies in the criminal justice system, attend
court proceedings with RMvlc attorneys, and provide assistance for law enforcement and
victim advocates.
What type of experience and qualifications do I need?
Ideal Legal intern candidates will have strong research and writing skills, an
understanding of the criminal justice process, a desire to work with victims of violent
crimes, a desire to work with a non-profit administration, good organizational skills, and
a general motivation to change the world.
