Why do I need to kn now how to use it? This is new w this year and a is what we w will use fo or you to acc cess our scho ool’s networrk. This also replaces what you may m know as “Portal”. Yo ou will use th his to access the internett, be able to o print, and d access you ur G:drive. You Y may hea ar it referred to as VDI, W WMWare View Client, or View Client. It was added d to your com mputer during SA Registrration. This program will crea ate a “virtua al” desktop on o your com puter. That m means – whe en you ully login, to explain simp ply, it will look just like you u are sitting at a computer in any successfu compute er lab. If you u go to Start Æ All Progra ams, you will notice you h have all the programs yo ou are used to seeing, even e if you do d not see a shortcut on your deskto op for them; W Word, Excel,, e, etc. OneNote The impo ortant thing th hat you need to rememb ber is – FOR STUDENT REN NTALS ONLY Y: To access the wirele ess (aka “Inte ernet”) at sch hool, print, a and see yourr G:drive – yo ou MUST use e the VMware View Client,, How do I login to the e VDI Client? Step 1: Open O the Cliient software e (the picture e above). C Click on “Co onnect” Step 2: Enter E your username and d password. Your userna ame is your SStudent ID. Click ‘Log gin’. How do I save my wo ork onto my G:drive? The easie est way is to make sure you y open your virtual/VD DI session firstt. Do whate ever work you u need. Sa ave to your G:drive G as yo ou are used to doing. If your file es are on you ur own computer – curre ently, the ea asiest way is tto use the USSB/thumb/fla ash drive opttion mention ned above. Or, email it to t yourself a nd then ope en your ema ail in the VDI session. O SAVE YOUR WORK K TO YOUR G DRIVE OR A APPROPRIATTE SHARED D DRIVE, NOT THE ‘C NOTE!!! ONLY DRIVE’ OR O ‘MY DOCU UMENTS’ ARE EA OF THE VIRTUAL V DESK KTOP!
