What is punctuation?
Punctuation is the use of symbols not belonging to the alphabet of a writing system that are used
to indicate aspects of the intonation and meaning not otherwise conveyed in the written
language.
Punctuation helps indicate something about the structure of a sentence or assist readers in
knowing when to change the rhythm or the stress of their speaking to convey meaning.
Why is punctuation important?
A tiny, misplaced comma or question mark can cost millions of dollars or break someone's heart.
"Punctuation herds words together, keeps others apart. Punctuation directs you how to read, in
the way musical notation directs a musician how to play.:
