A Message from All of Us
Why Go
Anywhere Else?
Welcome to the newest edition
of our customer newsletter.
Throughout these pages you’ll
find helpful conservation tips and
important information on our latest
energy-efficient products and valueadded services.
Our newsletter is just one way in
which we try our hardest to go above
and beyond our customers’ expectations. It’s what we like to call “The
Valley Oil Difference.”
As your trusted energy provider since 1970, we’ve been giving Central
Jersey families the kind of service only a local, family-run business like ours
can deliver: quality, value, respect and total peace of mind – things you
probably won’t get from a large, impersonal, nationally-owned chain.
There’s nothing that compares to the personal attention and reliability
of a local business… and it’s economically beneficial too! When you look
to an independent business for your work to be done, you keep more
money in your hometown – supporting your community’s social services,
schools, public library and local non-profits. How so? Locally owned
businesses return about 80% of each dollar to the community. Chains
and franchises, on the other hand, contribute roughly 40% of sales back to
the community. Many big box stores are even given tax incentives by local
governments – costing you more for that discounted price than you think.
We’d like to thank you for supporting our local business and for continuing
to trust us, at Valley Oil, for your families’ home comfort needs.
When it comes to the world-class products and services you want
… and the caring local touch you deserve, you can always count on
Valley Oil. Why go anywhere else?
Sincerely,
Your Friends at Valley Oil

Take Control of Your Fuel Costs with Our SmartPay Budget Plan
With or without price protection, SmartPay is the smart way!
Just because you use 75% of your heating fuel during the winter doesn’t mean you have to
pay 75% of your fuel costs during that time. Spread your payments evenly throughout the year
with Valley Oil’s SmartPay Budget Plan.
SmartPay lets you pay your seasonal heating bills over 11 months. We will take your
estimated yearly fuel expenses – based on your fuel usage history, your home size and an
average estimated fuel cost – and divide that over 11 months. If your actual fuel use is a little
higher or lower than estimated, you can settle up at the end of the heating season or roll the
adjustment into the following year’s program. There are no finance charges when you make timely
payments – this program is absolutely FREE!
There are even more benefits to SmartPay:
▪ Relax with automatic heating oil delivery.
▪ Combine your service plan costs as part of your budget plan
payments. Read more about service plans above.
▪P
ay online using your Visa, MasterCard, or Discover card..

Our Customers Also Love to
Save Money with Our Price
Cap Program
SmartPay budget plan customers get the added
bonus of our Price Cap Program. You will not
pay more than a maximum, or capped price for
your fuel oil for the entire heating season ... and
if our delivery price is lower than your capped
price on the day of your delivery, you will be
charged the lesser amount!
Valley Oil customers on this price protection
program have saved a bundle during past
heating seasons. This year, you could, too!
Take advantage our very popular SmartPay
and Price Cap programs now – call

Utility gas:
the truth exposed
Given the terrible power outages
affecting the entire East Coast during
and after Hurricane Sandy (8,511,251
combined total peak outages reported
for all 21 states affected), you probably
don’t think too highly about the utilities.
So, why would you let a bureaucratic
utility deliver natural gas to your
home (which, by the way, shuts off just
like electricity)?
While Valley Oil does service gas-fired
heating equipment, we want you to be
able to make an informed decision
about which fuel you use – oil or gas.
Here’s the bottom line: Converting to
natural gas is NOT cost-effective! In
fact, it can cost up to $10,000 and
maybe more.
There are so many costs involved in
converting that the gas utility won’t
quickly disclose, including relining your
chimney, installing a gas line, putting in
an excess flow valve to protect against
fire or explosion, removing your oil tank
and more.
If you need a new
boiler or furnace,
here’s what to do
instead:
More reasons why you should not convert to natural gas
X Historically, Oilheat has been a better value than gas heat.
X In the future, Oilheat may remain a better value than gas heat.
X Oilheating equipment is more efficient than ever.
X Natural gas has a poor safety record.
Ame
X A controversial gas drilling process called hydrofracturing (“fracking” for short)
is widely believed to have contaminated many water wells and caused
flammable methane to enter homes through faucets and showerheads.
X Throughout the country, utility gas leaking from aging underground pipes is
killing trees and vegetation.
X Methane – which makes up 95% of natural gas – is 20 to 72 times more
powerful than carbon dioxide in producing global warming.
X Unlike Oilheat, natural gas is highly explosive. If a leak
develops inside a house or nearby, a deadly explosion can result.

U.S. oil output is surging so fast that the USA could soon overtake
Saudi Arabia as the world’s biggest producer of crude oil.
According to the International Energy Agency, the United
States will become the world’s largest oil producer by around 2020,
overtaking Saudi Arabia as new exploration technologies help find more resources.
In its World Energy Outlook, the organization also predicted that greater oil
production and more efficient use of energy will allow the United States, which now imports
about 20% of its energy, to become nearly self-sufficient around 2035. By 2015, U.S. oil
production is expected to rise to 10 million barrels per day before increasing to 11.1
million barrels per day by 2020, overtaking second-place Russia and front-runner
Saudi Arabia. The U.S. will export more oil than it imports by 2030.

M e e t O n e of Ou r B est : David Crutchley, Service Technician
“I enjoy working
here,” says David
Crutchley – so
much so that he’s
been with Valley
Oil for almost 25
years!
An expert in
installation, repair and maintenance
of oil and gas boilers and furnaces,
air conditioners, heat pumps and
mini-split systems, David joined
Valley Oil after graduating from
Mercer County Technical High
School – Assunpink Center. He has
4
a NORA (National Oilheat Research
Alliance) Gold certification as well
as certification in handling A/C
refrigerant.
David says the heating and cooling
industry has seen two very important
changes in the past 25 years. First,
modern comfort systems contain
sophisticated electronic controls.
Second, today’s equipment is far more
efficient.
Although the industry has changed,
David notes that Valley Oil’s insistence
on superior customer service has
remained the same. “Valley Oil is
very customer oriented,” David
says. “They go above and beyond
customers’ expectations, whether
that means working out a payment
plan or providing customized
service.”
When he’s not tuning up a boiler
or repairing a central air conditioner,
David enjoys fishing way up north in
Ontario, Canada.
Congratulations on being
“One of Our Best,” David! Your
hard work and dedication is
greatly appreciated. Keep up
the great work!
