There’s no better way to see one of Southern California’s most storied coastlines than
being on an ocean kayak, paddling leisurely
across the deep blue sea. Experience the
reefs, beaches, marine life and coves that
brought artists here at the turn of the century and continue to inspire today. You’ll feel
like part of the ocean, all from the clearest
water this side of Catalina.
The excursion launches from North
Laguna at Boat Canyon, aptly named
because it is one of the few calm protected
coves in the area - a favorite for sailors and
paddlers. The tour heads north past Shaw’s
Cove and Crescent Bay, making a turn at the glided enclave of Emerald Bay, one of Laguna’s only private beach
communities. Next is a magnificent display of wildlife. Seal Rock is a protected sanctuary that is home to scores of
California sea lions, pelicans, gulls and cormorants. It is a wonder of nature to behold these lovely, docile mammals
and birds in their native habitat.
This activity requires a moderate level of physical ability
Double ocean kayaks are equipped with high backrests, which are the most stable boats in the sea
Excursion includes kayak, paddle, life jacket and a paddling demonstration
Roundtrip deluxe coach transportation included
Sunscreen, hat, water shoes and a towel are recommended
Participants will be required to sign a Risk and Release of Liability Waiver prior to the activity
Weight is restricted to 250 lbs. per person, height is restricted to 6’6” per person

California Culture Tour
MISSION SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO AND LAGUNA BEACH
COST: $100 PER PERSON
Experience the rich history and local culture of the Southern
California Riviera!
First stop is the Mission San Juan Capistrano, founded by Father Junipero
Serra in 1775, the seventh of 21 in the chain of Franciscan missions built along the California
coast. It is a place of historical, cultural and religious significance, as well as a place of inspiration
and education. The mission was originally founded to spread Christianity to the people of California.
It is a 200 year old monument situated on 10 acres of beautiful gardens, fountains and historic
structures.
Following the mission tour, you’ll embark on a scenic drive into Laguna Beach, stopping at Heisler
Park - famous for its iconic beach location with vast panoramic views of Laguna’s pristine coastline
and various pieces of public art that guests can look at up close. Free time has been allotted for
shopping and browsing. Laguna Beach is a shopper’s paradise with shopping concentrated in a
charming area along Pacific Coast Highway on Forest Avenue, near Main Beach. Some of the city’s
premier galleries and studios can also be found in Laguna Beach.

Build-A-Bear, Lift A Child’s Spirit
Paper Crafting With A Purpose
Teddy bears are a tangible symbol of
love, security and friendship. As children, they kept us warm at night. As
we grew older, they came to symbolize
romance and love. At all stages of life, teddy bears represent happiness and safety and
cheer us up when we are feeling low.
Roundtrip transportation will be provided to Fashion Island Mall, where your BuildA-Bear activity begins. The professional Build-A-Bear staff is ready to assist you with
building the bears. While visiting a series of stations, this hands-on workshop will help
you create a special teddy bear for some very deserving children. Guests will be given
a “Bear Bucks” gift card where you can spend your allowance to select the bear and a
variety of accessories.
Bears will be delivered to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) on behalf
of AMCA, where these lovely bears will brighten some very sick children’s lives. CHOC
was the first children’s hospital in Orange County and serves an estimated pediatric
population of over 1,156,000 children.
After the Build-A-Bear activity, you will have free time to browse, shop and have lunch
on your own at Fashion Island. This open air shopping center is Newport Beach’s finest
mall with a mixture of boutiques, retail stores and delicious restaurants. A map of the
mall will be provided.
Come join the fun on Saturday morning and learn how to create beautiful
Artist Trading Cards (ATCs).
Candy Colwell will teach the
basic principles of paper crafting
that can also be applied to scrapbooking and card making. She will
guide you through the making of a
“steampunk” style ATC. Then you
will be free to create your own original and
wonderful designs.
There will be all sorts of images, trims,
papers and “bling” to express yourself
through your art. Everything will be provided for you. Everyone attending will
also receive their own pair of small
detail scissors that are yours to keep.
Learn some wonderful techniques
and enjoy the company of other AMCA spouses and
guests as you share a creative adventure.
