Why buy British?

Why buy
British?
The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) is the trade association for the professional security
industry in the UK. Its members provide over 70% of UK security products and services and adhere to
strict quality standards.
Choosing your security products or services from a BSIA member
is your assurance of professionalism and quality. The BSIA's
membership criteria mean that when you choose a BSIA member
you can have confidence that your company is in safe hands.
An important part of the BSIA is its Export Council whose
members concentrate on extending their local business to
overseas markets. The Export Council serves as a forum for
these companies, acting as an invaluable port of call if you are
interested in developing a relationship with a UK company, either
as a customer or distributor.
With the checks that the BSIA conduct on its members, overseas
customers can rest assured that they will receive only the
best service despite being located in a different country. The
BSIA works to ensure that customers and members have the
opportunity to meet through various events and particularly via
the ‘Meet the Buyers’ at the annual IFSEC exhibition.
Proven credentials
Quality accreditation
The BSIA requires its members to be independently inspected
to the quality standard ISO 9001 with a UKAS accredited
certification body. The independent inspection also includes
confirmation of compliance to relevant British and European
standards and/or BSIA codes of practice. The requirement
provides independent assurance that member companies are
well-managed and operate to consistently high quality standards.
Credentials check
Before admitting a company into membership the BSIA check the
credentials and background of its senior managers and look into
the company’s financial records to ensure they are operating
on a sound basis. Member companies should also check the
background of all employees when this is appropriate to the
services they are providing.
Promoting best practice
BSIA members are at the forefront of standards development in
the UK and Europe. BSIA’s own codes of practice often go forward to
be developed into British or European Standards. This means that
you can be confident that the BSIA members reflect best practice in
security products and services.
Up-to-date on key legislation
All BSIA members are kept up-to-date with legislation and
developments that impact the security industry so they can
provide the best service to all UK and overseas customers.
