Broadcast Group
Host/Sponsor of activity: Media Sales Institute/Howard University
Brief description of activity and station participation: Media Staffing attended the
Media Sales Institute (MSI) event held at Howard University for Howard University
recent graduates. MSI is a ten-day, intense training program for graduating college or
university seniors who are passionately interested in pursuing a career in media sales.
The curriculum is designed to provide an entree into media sales for talented students of
diverse backgrounds. At this event, Media Staffing viewed the graduates’ presentations
on assigned scenarios where they represent a radio or TV stations, cable system or
newspaper and do a presentation to a local client. Media Staffing also met with potential
sales individuals to discuss opportunities at Journal Broadcast Group. Each individual
was provided a list of openings and job descriptions and applications. Those interested in
the opportunities were instructed to reach out to the station manager directly.
