This universal call to holiness is the opportunity in which we all share as part of the human family and it is with understanding that the church functions today. As you know the Archdiocese is going through a reorganization and revitalization effort called 'Making All Things New'. Over the last several months I have been working with a core team of parishioners to help guide us through the many forms and reports that are part of this process. The end result will be that every parish in the Archdiocese will be linked to a group of others called a cluster. The clusters will then work on opportunities to share resources, activities, personnel and such forming a more viable network of local parishes. The Archdiocese has released the final list of cluster groups. We are going to be working with St. Catharine (Pelham), St Ursula (Mount Vernon) and Sts. Peter and Paul (Fleetwood/Mount Vernon). Our core teams and pastors have already met for preliminary discussions and more have been scheduled in the near future. Each step of the process is highly orchestrated by the Reid Group and outside consulting firm that has been commissioned by Cardinal Dolan. January 5, 2014 As of now there are no decisions or changes that have been made but moving ahead we will be coordinating with these parishes. I know the process seems tedious (which it is) but the blueprint we are following has met with great success. I will update you as we go along. Sincerely, Rev. Robert DeJulio Pastor A CHRISTMAS VISITOR We were pleased to see Father Oliver at Christmas. He has completed his Army basic training and left for Afghanistan just after the first of the year. His length of deployment will depend on the timing of the troop withdrawal as well as the eventual agreement as to whether or not some troops will remain in the country. Please keep him and all our military in your prayers. January 5, 2014 COMMUNICATION COLLECTION This week our parish will take up the Collection for the Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC). This Campaign communicates the Gospel through Catholic social media, activities and enriches our faith through Internet, television, radio, and print media. Half of all proceeds remain in our Archdiocese and support local needs, so please be generous in this collection. CCC equips us to share our experience of faith, worship, and witness with the world. FOR YOUR RECORDS Contribution statements for those who regularly use the parish envelope system will be mailed out in January so that you may have this information for tax purposes. Participants in Parish Pay can get their statements online. H.O.P.E. SOUP KITCHEN The next scheduled cooking day for our Parish Chefs is Friday, January 24th.
