Marbella is a town in Andalusia, Spain. It is situated on the Mediterranean Sea, in
the province of Málaga, beneath the La Concha mountain. In 2000 the city had
98,823 inhabitants, in 2004, 116,234, in 2010 approximately 135,000.
Marbella and nearby Puerto Banús are important tourist resorts on the Costa del
Sol. Marbella is especially popular with tourists from Northern Europe (including
the UK, Ireland and Germany), Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E. and the U.S.A.
The city is particularly known for the rich and famous, a very popular destiny for
celebrities and wealthy people. It is also a major destination for luxury cruise ships
and mega yachts which are also often docked in its harbor.
YOU DREAM… WE DELIVER
MALAGA AIRPORT CONNECTIONS
A high percentage of the tourists coming to the Costa de
Sol on holidays reach the area –the southernmost in the
Iberian Peninsula– by plane. Their first contact with Malaga
Province is, of course, its airport, Pablo Ruiz Picasso.
Lying 8 kilometers away from Malaga City and 5 from
Torremolinos, Pablo Ruiz Picasso Airport is home to 80
international airlines connecting Malaga to the main cities
in Spain, Europe, Northern Africa, and North America.
Those cities where no direct flights to Malaga are served
use the airports in Madrid or Barcelona to make flight
connections and thus reach the Costa del Sol.
Once in the airport, travelers can choose among various
means of transport to get to their destination. Taxis, private
cars, buses and train are available.
Please visit www.aena.es to view which airlines fly direct to
Malaga.

fruit trees; and plenty of streets cafes, while walking the narrow cobbled streets that echo the layout of the original ancient
Arabic medina at the time that you taste the best tapas in town in some of the buzzing tapas bars of the Old Town, the
favourite places of locals and residents of Marbella.
During the tour the visitor will visit the most interesting historic places of Marbella and have an authentic Andalusian
gastronomic experience.
ARRIVAL DAY
The origin of the Tapas
The word "tapas" is derived from the
Spanish verb tapar, "to cover".
According to The Joy of Cooking, the
original tapas were the slices of bread
or meat which sherry drinkers in
Andalusian taverns used to cover their
glasses between sips. This was a
practical measure meant to prevent
fruit flies from hovering over the sweet
sherry
(see
below
for
more
explanations). The meat used to cover
the sherry was normally ham or
chorizo, which are both very salty and
activate thirst. Because of this,
bartenders and restaurant owners
began creating a variety of snacks to
serve with sherry, thus increasing their
alcohol sales.
The tapas eventually became as
important as the sherry.

DAY THREE
GALA DINNER AND BEACH PARTY AT
NIKKI BEACH
YOU DREAM… WE DELIVER
Visit of Mijas / Lunch in Mijas and transfer to the airport
Mijas is located in the province of Malaga and lies on the slopes of the Sierra de Mijas mountain range. The
municipality consists of three main urban centers: Mijas Pueblo (the center), Mijas costa (on the sea, just after
Fuengirola) and La Cala de Mijas (another coastal area).
Mijas is considered one of the "Pueblos blancos” of Andalusia, a traditional village with the typical whitewashed
houses, the narrow streets, alleys and corners of extraordinary beauty. The houses are perched on a hill, drawing
a contrast line with the green of the pine trees that covers the mountains.
DAY FOUR
Inhabited since ancient times, Mijas like the rest of Andalucia has seen the Roman and the Moorish domination
before being claimed by the kingdome of Castile during the Catholic Reconquest; the town has always lived on
agriculture and fishing, until the economic boom of the '80s, when the tourism industry and the construction took
off, bringing welfare to its people, but unfortunately to expense of the environment, like in the rest of the Costa
del Sol.
Lunch at El Padrastro
Restaurant El Padrastro is an idyllic venue
surrounded by mountains and a very special
balcony from where Fuengirola may be
viewed. There is a beautiful and impeccable
pond around which all kind of events, lunches
or business meetings may be held. In addition,
the gardens may be used all year round
thanks to Malaga’s excellent climate.
El Padrastro restaurant has been serving its
visitors for more than 30 years. It is one of the
oldest restaurants on the Costa del Sol. You
are welcome to experience our amazing
environment,
delighting
food
and
magnificent panoramic views across to the
coast and the town of Mijas. Our restaurant
has private rooms, spacious terrace bordering
the sea and the mountains, swimming pool
with bar service and a place suitable for
celebrations and presentations of up to 250
people.
GOODBYE MARBELLA
DAY FOUR
Two hours and a half before flight departure transfer to Malaga internation Airport and flight back home.
If you have more time you can combine this programme with a 3-4 days programme in Granada or in Seville
The Olé Special Events family
hopes to see you soon in
Spain.
