The flush deck has rub rails slightly inboard of the edge and these cars were configured for saddle-back truck loading. The sill is straight and there is a “clam shell” jack pad welded to the side sill at the bolsters. These cushioned cars ride on 70-ton trucks and were originally delivered to the GTW 303600-303772 series and transferred to the current CNA series in 1974. CNA 750112 (750100-750130) Built 10/68, Bethlehem Steel Corporation (Johnstown, Pennsylvania) CNA 750112 (nee-GTW 303600-303772 series) was built during 1968 by BSC at Johnstown, Pennsylvania and it’s in the North Vancouver, British Columbia CN yard with a load of military vehicles. There are 15 welded side posts (16 smooth panels) that are beveled at the bottom. The ends are corrugated, with five channels welded to a panel, extending beyond the side sheet ends. The side sill is straight with the side sheets welded to it and there are roping plates welded to the lower edge side sill just outboard of the bolster. There are two grabs at the left end, and a ladder with four rungs at the right and on the ends, there is a four rung ladder to the left edge. These cars were built for the 137350-137549 series and ride on 100-ton trucks. 33 cars have been modified for coil steel service by adding trough racks and fiberglass covers. CN 137548 (137350-137549) Built 10/73, Hawker Siddeley (Trenton, Nova Scotia) CN 137470 was built by HST in 1973 and it’s loaded with pulled rail and is in the CN yard in Edmonton, Alberta during May 2005. It’s equipped with CSF/ASF 100-ton Barber S-2 trucks with 36” wheels, the load limit is 201,800; the light weight is 61,200 and it was painted 6/01 at PU. There are 17 side posts, with the odd numbered posts tied into the major floor joists and the even numbered posts are smaller and end at the bottom of the side sheets. The roping plate on these cars is a rectangular plate that fits between the upper and lower plates of the bolster and there is a hole centered in the face. There are three horizontal ribs on the ends, lengths of channel welded to a steel plate with plates welded to the ends. The A-end has a rotary coupler and the cars ride on 100-ton trucks. These cars were built originally for the current CN series. CN 199060 (197606-197668) Built 1/70, Marine Industries Limited (Sorel, Quebec) CN 199060 was built by MIL at Sorel, Quebec in 1970 and it’s at Kinder Morgan’s Vancouver Wharves in sulfur service in North Vancouver, British Columbia during December 2007. It’s equipped with a Universal hand brake, Gould 100-ton Barber S-2 trucks with 36” wheels and a rotary coupler on the A-end. The capacity is 4000 cubic feet, the load limit is 228,000; the light weight is 58,000 and it was weighed 1/70 NEW. CNLX 10004-10805 National Steel Car 4-Bay Covered Hopper 3800 Cubic-Foot Cylindrical Gravity Outlets Dimensional Data Outside Length Outside Width Outside Height 55’ 1” 10’ 8” 15’ 2” Plate C AAR Type Code C112 Mechanical Designation LO These cars were built during 1974 by NSC at Hamilton, Ontario. There are four round roof hatches, running boards on either side of the hatches with 18 supports (double supports at the running board panel joints), an arched roof, and 11 welded side panels. The end slope sheets are vertical and there is a brake reservoir mounted horizontally on the B-end end sheet between the “V” brace. These cars have body mounted brake cylinders (mounted to the shear plate), so at both ends of the car, on the left side, brake levers extend out through a slot on the side sill and they are connected to each other with a brake rod (with a slack adjustor at the B-end). The side sill is straight and rolls out slightly along the upper edge and ends vertically at the car ends. The jack pad/roping plates are rectangular with a vertical face and extend out beyond the side sill at the bolsters. There are four gravity outlet gates and the cars ride on 100-ton trucks. These cars were built for the CNIS 368000-368999 series and were transferred to this CNLX (CN Treasury Operations Ltd.) series during 1994. CNLX 10041 (10004-10805) Built 8/74, National Steel Car (Hamilton, Ontario) CNLX 10041 (nee-CNIS 368000-368999 series) was built by NSC at Hamilton, Ontario in 1974 and is in the SRY yard in Huntingdon, British Columbia during June 2008. It’s equipped with Miner Enterprises MK E-10450 replacement gravity outlets, an Ellcon-National 35000-2 hand brake and CSF/ASF 100-ton CNR Barber S-2 trucks with 36” wheels. The capacity is 3800 cubic feet, the load limit is 223,700; the light weight is 62,300 and it was painted and lined with Phillips 683-639A epoxy 2/98 by CN PU. There are 17 side posts, and the side sill is straight with roping holes located near the outboard vertical corner posts. There are four outlet gates on either side of the center sill and the pairs of doors are connected with a length of steel channel so that both doors open at the same time. These cars ride on 100-ton trucks and were originally delivered to the current CN series. CN 330245 (330000-330249) Built 3/67, Hawker Siddeley (Trenton, Nova Scotia) CN 330245 was built by HST at Trenton, Nova Scotia in 1967 and it’s in LaGrange, Illinois during August 2003. It’s equipped with a Universal hand brake, CSF-ASF 100-ton Barber S-2 trucks with 36” wheels, the capacity is 4341 cubic feet, the load limit is 197,200 and the light weight is 65,800.
