These cars were rebuilt by General Electric Rail Services at their Sayre, Pennsylvania shops during 2000. The rebuilding of these cars was pretty intensive and included strengthening the floor joists and bolsters (increasing the capacity from 70 to 100 tons), strengthening the car ends by welding steel strips across the corrugations and the interior height was increased by 5” from 10’ 7” to 11’ by adding to the car sides between the original eaves and the roof (increasing from Plate B to Plate C). New (10’ 7” tall) doors replaced the original (10-foot tall) and vents were added along the floor and original roof line. BCOL 850282 (850271-850290) Lot 9831 Built 12/75 Rebuilt 3/00 BCOL 850282 (nee-RBOX 15753, 15000-16499 series) was built by PS during December 1975 and it’s in Edmonton, Alberta during May 2005. It’s equipped with a 10-foot wide by 10’ 7” tall RCS 6-panel replacement sliding door, a Universal hand brake, 100-ton trucks with 36” wheels, lading strap anchors and a reinforced nailable steel floor. The load limit is 202,500; the light weight is 65,500 and it was weighed 2/00 and painted 3/00 at GERR-SAY. Note: the COTS label and paint notes list a 3/00 date, while the weigh date is stenciled as 2/00. BCOL 850313 (850271-850290) Lot 9831 Built 12/75 Rebuilt 4/00 BCOL 850313 (nee-RBOX 15000-16499 series) is in North Vancouver, British Columbia in the CN yard during July 2005. It’s equipped with a 10-foot wide by 10’ 7” tall RCS 6-panel replacement sliding door, 100-ton trucks with 36” wheels, lading strap anchors and a reinforced nailable steel floor. The rebuilding included strengthening the floor joists and bolsters and cutting vent openings into the car sides, two at the floor and roof line on either side of the centered door and replacing the original 70-ton trucks with 33” wheels with 100-ton trucks with 36” wheels. SLGG 11482 (11473-11499) Lot 9725 Built 1/74 SLGG 11482 (ex-NS 407000-407977 series; nee-SOU 526675-527699 series) was built during 1974 by PS and is in Abbotsford, British Columbia during December 2005. It’s equipped with a 10-foot wide by 10’ 4” tall RCS 6-panel replacement sliding door, a Universal hand brake, Scullin 100-ton trucks with 36” wheels and a reinforced nailable steel floor. Its load limit is 215,300; the light weight is 70,700 and it was weighed and painted 9/02 when it was modified for pulp service by PRDK. It’s equipped with a 10-foot wide by 10’ 4” tall RCS 6-panel replacement sliding door, a Universal hand brake, Scullin 100-ton trucks with 36” wheels and a reinforced nailable steel floor. Its load limit is 215,800; the light weight is 70,200 and it was weighed and painted 9/02 when it was modified for pulp service by PRDK.
