All other runners always return to their base. (Something to consider: Give center fielder's an assist chance on third die 6, runner trying to score from 3rd.) If you want to have better flyball distribution then refer to the third die and the Page 7 chart. Optional Advanced Rule: Better Fly Ball Distribution 1 and 4- batter's opposite field ........ 2 and 3- batter's pull field ........ 5 and 6- center field Mantle bats left vs. Lary, thus hits a flyball to his opposite field, left field in this case. Now that's as hard as it gets with the fly ball distribution chart, having a switch hitter up to bat. General rule of thumb: bL opposite field is Left. bR is Right field. Man on 1st. 1 out. Lary's hra (home run against) grade is 2. Third die 2 falls within the range except Kubek has a minus one (-1) kicker that reduces Lary's range to 1. Thus, it's not a homerun. If you were using ball park effects, Kubek would have caught the right field overhang in old Tiger Stadium with that one, since the +1 rating found on the Detroit pitching / defense chart bumps Lary's range back to 2. Some gamers like to do a re-roll on this dice roll to add to the suspense. They disregard the third die, pick it up, and once the homerun chance is determined, roll for the fences. Finally, all flyouts on this roll are on the warning track, and a runner on 3rd scores with less than 2 out, all other runners return to their base. Roll 1 die if you want to know how far it goes. 400' plus die times 10. It's a 6. Roll again with 6's. 400' plus die times 20. It's a 4. Mantle wrecks it 480'. The chance of Mantle getting to the "times 20" part of the chart once is 50/50 for the season. I'm sure Lary has given up 7 runs by now, but who's counting. I'm not changing his grades. But, if you were playing in a league or tourney, he'd be all 6's once 7 runs are given up. Earned or unearned, it doesn't matter. Mantle was also his 31st batter of the game, so he would start losing his stuff in the hit and walk grades for each hit OR walk he gives up. If the next batter got a single, Lary's hit grade would go to 4, AND his walk grade would also increase by one, to from 2 to 3.
