Ms. Connie Paul
Personnel Director
Parkway School District
455 North Woods Mill Road
Chesterfield, MO 63017
Dear Ms. Paul:
I am very interested in applying for the fourth grade teaching position which will be available
next semester at Craig School. I initially learned of the opening through the Career
Development Office at Fontbonne University. In addition, Mary Doe, my cooperating teacher
last semester at Mason Ridge, encouraged me to apply. She felt my interests and skills offer a
strong match for your needs.
As indicated by my enclosed resume, I will graduate in December from Fontbonne University
with a degree in Elementary Education and certification in grades 1-8. My student teaching
experience in the Parkway District allowed me to become fully engaged in your “tradition of
excellence” and I am excited about the possibility of being a member of your faculty.
I have established a successful record of helping children learn, both in and outside the
classroom setting, and have served several years as a camp counselor for children with special
needs. Ms. Doe also mentioned to me that you frequently need assistance with extracurricular programs and I definitely look forward to being actively involved.
I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this teaching position in person and can be
reached at the phone numbers listed above. My application is online with REAP and I have
enclosed additional credential materials with this letter. In addition, I have a teaching
portfolio available for your review if you are interested. I look forward to hearing from you
soon.
Sincerely,
Molly Carter

Dr. Deb Ayres
Director of Human Resources
Kirkwood School District
11289 Manchester Road
St. Louis, MO 63122
Dear Dr. Ayres:
I enjoyed meeting you yesterday at Fontbonne’s Teacher Recruiting Fair and learning
more about the teaching position in math at Kirkwood Senior High School. I believe my
strong academic background and student-teaching experience at the secondary level will
allow me to make immediate contributions to your math program. The possibility of also
continuing my association with volleyball through coaching the freshman team is of great
interest to me.
As I mentioned, the Kirkwood School District has been my first teaching choice since my
sophomore practicum experience. The independent study, contract learning, college
credit, and vocational experience programs are exciting options, which meet a variety of
the students’ needs. I was also impressed with the math teachers I observed. They were
all enthusiastic about their subject matter and seemed genuinely concerned about their
students.
I am very interested in teaching at Kirkwood and look forward to hearing from you soon.
If you have any further questions about my candidacy, I can be reached at the phone
number listed above or my cell phone, 314.889.1422. Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Jennifer R. Dillon
