League names Congressmen Andre Carson and Marlin
Stutzman as Outstanding Hoosier Legislators
The Indiana Credit
Union League has
named Congressmen
Andre Carson, who
represents Indiana’s 7th
Congressional District,
and Marlin Stutzman,
who represents Indiana’s 3rd Congressional
District, as Outstanding Hoosier Legislators
for 2012. The award is
given each year during the League’s annual
convention to honor
legislators who have
gone the extra mile to
support Indiana’s credit
unions and their 2.2
million members. This
year’s convention was
held Oct. 3-5.
Since joining Congress
in early 2008, Carson
has proven to be a very
strong credit union
supporter. As a member
of the House Financial
Services Committee, he
has been very interested
in credit unions’ perspectives on the critical
issues that have come
before the committee.
For the third time, Congressman Carson signed
on as a co-sponsor of
important legislation
that would help create jobs by increasing
the limit on loans that
credit unions can make
to small businesses.
Carson has strong relationships with the credit
unions in his district
and understands the
important role credit
unions play in their
communities.
Stutzman also has
become a strong
credit union supporter since joining
Congress in late
2010. Beginning
early on, Congressman Stutzman has

Vigilance Urged on Scams
From rings of alleged thieves working together with an auto dealership and a police officer to get

credit unions have been bilked in
cases that end up costing millions
of dollars in losses.
Fighting fraud has become such

Another 17% said they plan to

Over the summer, cases involving auto and business loan scams
seem to hit credit unions especially

Ever since Samaritan’s

PrimeTrust Financial Federal Credit Union for many years. Besides
performing our annual audits and reviews, they have continually
minimized our exposure to risk and have assisted in the
re-engineering of our services. In short, we stay with Whitinger &
Company for one reason; they provide us value for our money.”

Seven selected to Crash the Convention
“Crash the Convention,”
a program that offers the
opportunity for young
emerging leaders at credit unions to attend major
industry events that they
would not normally be
able to attend, continues
at this year’s Convention.
Several other Leagues
have adopted the progam
at their conventions, and
there have been crashers
at CUNA events as well.
The Indiana crashers
are credit union staffers
under age 35 who are not
yet at the management
team level at their credit
unions, and who have
not been to convention
in at least two years. The
seven who were selected
are:
• Micaela Paluszewski,
AAA FCU
• Shelby Schuh,
Beacon CU
• Tom Headington,
FORUM CU
• Ashley Akins,
KEMBA CU
• Adam Richards,
MidWest America FCU
• Jan Zurek, Midwest
Family FCU
• Tiffany Davis, State
Service CU
Please welcome this
group to the Convention. The League hopes
they come away inspired
about the credit union
business and positioned
to take on leadership
roles in the future.

Special week recognizes cooperative businesses impact
Governor Mitch Daniels
has declared Oct. 14-20
Cooperative Week with
support of many cooperative organizations,
including the League
and the Indiana Cooperative Development
Center. This week, Hoosiers whose lives are improved by the presence
of cooperative organizations—which includes
just about everyone in
Indiana—should take
note. In his proclamation, Gov. Daniels said
that “the cooperatives in
Indiana generate significant income, employment and revenue and
function as engines of
economic growth for local communities and the
economy of Indiana.”
Support for the proclamation came from
cooperatives throughout
the state of Indiana.
In Indiana there are
hundreds of cooperative
organizations including
credit unions, insurance
agencies, energy providers, housing, daycare,
farm supply, education,
and grocery co-ops.
The Governor’s proclamation will be on
display throughout the
week of Oct. 14-20 in
many locations including the Indiana Farm
Bureau Building (225
South East Street,
Indianapolis) which
is home to several
cooperative organizations that provide
financial services,
insurance products,
energy exploration,
and other services.
The celebration and
support of co-operative businesses will
continue after the
conclusion of Cooperative Week when
the Indiana Cooperative Summit takes
place November 9. The
theme of the summit
is “Co-ops = Stronger
Communities.” For de-

Round-the-clock call center service now available
from Credit Union Card Center
Servicecorp’s Credit
Union Card Center
(CUCC) is now offering
24/7 call center support
for credit union clients
every day of the year except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
This is possible thanks to
extended office hours and
a new partnership with
AnyHour Solutions, an
Illinois-based call center
operation which works
exclusively with credit
unions.
“We know that credit
cardholders lead busy
lives and often need
assistance after normal
working hours or when
they are traveling.” said
Servicecorp Chief Operating Officer Diana
Arnold. “We hope that
this enhancement to our
services will improve
member satisfaction. Our
goal is that credit cardholders will receive the
same support they have
experienced from CUCC
in the past, and we will
work closely with AnyHour Solutions to insure
we are meeting members’
needs going forward.”
CUCC will be closed on
all federal holidays, but
AnyHour Solutions will
handle cardholder calls
on those holidays. In
the past, the call center
was open for limited
hours on Martin Luther
King, Jr., President’s
Day, Columbus Day, and
Veteran’s Day for both
credit unions and cardholders.
Call center contact
information:
• CUCC office hours
are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m.
to 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Calls that occur outside those times will
be handled by AnyHour Solutions.
• Credit union staff
should call (888) 5522737 to contact CUCC
staff during business
hours.
• If credit unions call
the number created
for cardholders, they
could be directed to
AnyHour Solutions

coordinator, and Robin Maxey,

on a holiday or during
hours that CUCC is not
open, in which case
they will not be able
to assist you. AnyHour
Solutions staff has
been trained to answer
cardholder inquiries
but not to assist with
more complicated calls
from credit union staff.
