I am dedicated to studying nursing because I strongly believe that it is the most meaningful
industry. In the medical system, nurses play an important role to ease doctors’ workload and have
the front-line communication with patients. Therefore, I am sincerely looking for an opportunity
to further my study in the field to become a professionally-recognized nurse.
I understand that being a nurse would not lead to enormous wealth but I am still willing to take
that challenge. Helping in medical tasks, which many may feel boring or even disgusting, would
bring me huge sense of satisfaction because these duties are important to ensure the smooth
operation in the system.
Although I am not academically talented, I am extremely confident in my chariness. Being
representatives of subjects at school, I had to help teachers complete many repetitive tasks.
While many may regard that as insignificant, many teachers said they appreciated my assistance
which lightened their workload. I think this metaphor would help me express my appreciation to
nurses who generously share the seemingly annoying duties for the doctors.
I believe excellent communication skill is also essential to a successful nurse. Hospital, with
warmth, can become a shelter for the sick to have a rest and hope; otherwise, staying in a
hospital may be one of the most unfortunate tortures. At senior secondary, I volunteered myself
to be the programme manager for classes. The involved duties include organizing events and
communicating duties. Both my consideration and communication skills have been built through
these experiences. Therefore, I am confident that I can facilitate communication as a nurse in a
hospital to create a comfortable environment for both medical staff and patients.
For me, being determined, considerate and communicative is not enough to be a contributing
nurse. Professional training as well as practical internship experience are also prerequisite.
Therefore, I am sincerely seeking opportunity to receive formal training through tertiary
education so as to equip myself to join the nursing field.

As a student who studies Science, I’m interested in something about observation and hypothetical
assumption. That’s why I am interested in the broad discipline of Liberal Arts and Social Science.
I have joined several kinds of activities over the past few years, through these activities; I have
learnt some technical skills and communication skills as well.
Being nominated as a prefect at school (Year 2008/2009 and 2010/2011) is an experience that I
treasure most. The duty of prefect is to help the school to keep order and discipline in school. As I am
quite a sociable person, I think I handle the duty quite well. To discipline the students is not only scold
them, but tell them the reason why they are wrong. I have learnt to be more diplomatic through facing
students from different levels and assisting teachers in carrying out various tasks.
Also, I have joined quite a lot of competitions in my secondary school life, including some interclass and inter-school competitions. Among all those competitions, the inter-class clipping competition is
the one I like most. That is not only because I won the competition, but also the things I learnt from it. It
was a group competition. Communication is the most important thing for group work, and I think we did
this quite well. Since I was the only one who studies Information and Computer Technology (ICT) in our
group, all technical works were done by me. Though my ICT result is quite outstanding, I am not familiar
with video clipping. I triedmy best to learn about those techniques and finally made the video. As a
perfectionist, I wanted to make the clip as well as I can, therefore, I burnt the mid night oil to finish the
final product with my group mates. Through the competition, I have learnt the techniques of making up a
video clip, but most importantly, I have strived my best to pursue what I want and to work together with
my teammates. I am really proud of what we have done and the positive attitude we have.
Though I am not sure what I am going to be in the future, I am determined to pursue a degree in
Liberal Arts or Social Science. With the positive attitude of striving for the best to pursue my goal, I am
ready for the coming challenges.

I have developed rich interest in Design and Technology (DT) since I was first exposed to the
subject in Form 1. Since then, I have put all effort in developing my talent in this regard. At
school, I was ranked the first in the subject. Outside school, I took on many opportunities to gain
related experience, including taking part in the FIRST Lego League and RoboCupJunior Hong
Kong. In my exchange experience to the United States in 2008, I took part in the robotic club at
the local school. Adopting the identity of a crew member, I took part in the FIRST Robotics
Competition. I have gained extremely enjoyable and rewarding experience through the different
sessions in the Competition. Finally, we were honoured to win the second place, which rewarded
me the chance to become the representative of the Michigan State to take part in the American
competition in Atlanta. This experience provides me a unique experience of practical application
of my DT knowledge, which many Hong Kong students do not have. This competition also
broadened my view about the competence of American DT talents and further motivated my
declination to equip myself to be the top of the field.
I understand that in Hong Kong, the resource for training local talents in the field has long been
blamed to be inadequate. Therefore, I treasure all the opportunities which can deepen my
knowledge and widen my view in the related fields. I therefore took part in the 6th Hong Kong
Underwater Robot Challenge this year.
In future years, I would like to further equip myself through receiving tertiary education in the
field as well as taking part in similar competitions. In addition to gaining more professional
knowledge, I am certain that these two approaches can also widen my social network with local
DT talents, which is important in the future when I need to cooperate with others in large-scale
DT projects.
In order to sharpen my communication skills and team-work experience, I have also taken part in
HKIR VRS Competition 2009 and Hong Kong Venture Scout Competition 2011. All my past
efforts were made to facilitate my development in the DT field. I am sincerely looking for an
opportunity to receiving formal and specialized training in the field in University so as to
successfully convert my interest in the life time and professional development. Thank you for

Since form two, I have joined the volleyball team of my school. Being a team member for four years,
I have gained lots of valuable experiences. Getting along with different people, being able to express
myself and tackling different problems calmly are all I have learnt in the team.
After joining the Hong Kong East Youth Volleyball Team, I was given the opportunities to compete
with other youth players around Hong Kong. In these competitions, I needed to adjust my mentality in
every race and keep practising diligently if I lost. It's because if I can't adjust my mentality at the bad
situation of the game, my teammates will worry about me and can't focus on the game anymore. The team
will eventually lose because of me. Therefore, how to overcome the barriers and difficulties is all I have
learnt in these situations.
In the volleyball team, I had to communicate with the instructors and students from other schools. It
helped me to learn how to express my mind clearly and communicate with the others actively. What's
more, operation skill is what I have learnt too. I know how to work with my teammates in the race. Also I
believe I can use the skills I learnt in my future education, such as how to hold an event.
I believe that university education does not only require high academic performance.
Communication skills and good attitude of education are also vital. Although I wonder if my credentials
could meet the requirements and expectations as a student of your university, having a university
education is my life target. I hope that my abilities and experiences can help me to achieve my goal.

"I have a dream” is a well-known saying by Martin Luther King .Everyone has a dream, including me.
My dream is getting admitted into my most favourite university program after Secondary Six. I have tried
my best to prepare myself to enter university.
I am particularly keen on Accounting. Since Form Five, I have joined a program organized by Junior
Achievement Hong Kong. It is a Junior Achievement Company Program, which instills in students the
way to operate a company just as people would do in the real business world. Before the Trade Fair, we
had to do many researches about a particular product which would be sold. We had to develop a business
plan and raise capital. Then, the Trade Fair was held at the ground plaza of HSBC Main Building in
Central in December, 2010.
After the program, I have acquired much knowledge on business operation, from product production to
conducting stockholders’ meetings .Joining the program has enhanced the development of my
interpersonal skills too. Not only have we improved our communication, but we were also able to
cooperate better among us. The most important thing is that I came to understand my strengths and
weaknesses. I recognize that I am good at calculation and logical thinking. These are invaluable assets to
become a good accountant and programmer. On the other hand, I know that I am not good at persuading
customers to buy my products. That means I need to have further training on my communication skills.
Taking part in the program indeed was a remarkable experience for me in Business and Accounting.
In addition, in November 2011, I was awarded Distinction in the Australian Mathematics Competition
organized by Australian Mathematics Trust. This further confirms my aptitude for Accountancy.
I hope that one day I can use my talents to make my dream come true and I can enter university to pursue
my academic training in Business and Accountancy.

I believe these are important qualities for my
future academic pursuit and I have set a career

Like many other students, my dream is to get admitted to my most favourite university program
after six years of secondary studies. In fact, in the past few years, I have been striving persistently towards
this goal.
First of all, I really feel thankful to have ample opportunities to develop my leadership potential
during my senior secondary studies. In 2010-2011, I was appointed the secretary of Photography Club and
Form 5 Representative of Student Union Representative Council. Being the representative, I had the
chance to take part in the meetings of the Student Union and offer the chairpersons advice regarding the
operation of the Student Union. The most unforgettable other learning experience was being the Cheering
Team Leader of Blue House as the experience offered me an opportunity to lead a team of 100 house
members, arranging and offering them training for performances at important school events such as sports
day and swimming gala. This did not only help to develop my leadership potential but also enhance my
confidence and communication skills. Besides, I came to realize that team spirit and support from
members and encouragement from leaders are keys to success. Moreover, these experiences enhanced my
self-understanding. I came to know about my strengths and weakness when I worked with the others and I
found that it was an enjoyable experience working with people.
Apart from taking up different posts, I also took part in both Chinese and English solo verse
contest at Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival last year. These extra-curricular activities did not only
enhance my public speaking skills, but also broaden my horizon because I also learnt from the others
through the competition.
I believe there are a lot more eye-opening and valuable experiences awaiting me to explore in
university. I am longing to further my study in university and I will try my best to materialize my dream,
hoping one day I could contribute to the community with the knowledge and skills acquired.

I was appointed the Academic Prefect (AP) in our school from Form three to Form four and the Viceacademic Prefect. I had to offer private tutorial lessons to junior form students regularly to help them
tackle problems they come across in their study. At first I found it hard as my young buddies were
reluctant to attend the tutorial sessions. However, with my encouragement, they gradually showed
improvement in both their attitude and exam results and I also tasted the joy of helping people.
Moreover, being an Academic Prefect, I did not just help the young buddies with their homework, I
offered them emotional support and advice when they came across problem with interpersonal
relationship, too. I become more mature after taking up the role of a student tutor as the post offered me
the chance to learn to care about the young buddies in school. Moreover, as the Vice-academic Prefect, I
had to organize activities and training for the other prefects. Thus my dedication to the duties of
Academic Prefect during the past few years has helped enhance my communication skills and leadership
potential and I found that helping people is an enjoyable experience.
In addition to school duties, I also took part actively in contests or enrichment programs organized by
organizations outside school. I took part in a Project-based Outreach Program in 2009-2010 and
Secondary School Mathematics and Science Competition in 2010-2011. I was awarded Distinction in
Biology in the inter-school science competition. This shows my potential in academic study. As I show
outstanding performance in both academic study and school services, I was awarded Hong Kong Island
Outstanding Students Award.
My other learning experiences have helped shape my determination to pursue a career which offers me
opportunities to serve people.

Since I was small, I started developing different skills. I attended different interest groups such as painting,
sketching, swimming, skiing, playing the flute etc..
These interests continue to develop even when I grow up. Among different kinds of interests, I am
particularly fond of art such as painting and sculpture. I attended painting classes which teach different
styles of painting with two different professional artists who have great impact on me. They widen my
horizon about different schools of painting and inspired me to pursue my skills and knowledge in this
field. Moreover, the first time I learnt about sculpture in art lessons, I was fascinated by the craft. Now in
my leisure time, I would make some small gift items for my friends. It is fun to put the ideas in my mind
into practice and to actually create it. My interest in painting and handicraft has helped greatly enhance

Moreover, I am a sociable person as I like making friends. It is an enjoyable experience to befriend
different people, understand them and further strengthen the relationship. I can communicate with people
effectively and face audience with confidence because I take part actively in activities provided by youth
centre and I seized the chance to participate in public speaking activities such as Hong Kong Speech
Festival. These activities do help me build up my confidence and enhance my communication skills.
Apart from school activities, I also help the church organize large scale events during summer holidays. I
drafted the schedule, trained people, and produced promotional trailers. These experiences helped
enhance my leadership skills which are useful for my future career.
It is always ideal to utilize one’s strength and interest in one’s academic pursuit and career. It would be
great if I could be given the opportunity to further explore knowledge and develop the potentials in the
above fields or aspects in my undergraduate study.

I first participated in Chinese Speech Festival when I was in primary 4. Since then, I kept joining various
competitions, such as solo-verse speaking contests and debate contests. These activities have offered me
opportunities to develop my potential and enhance my confidence.
Through these activities, I have acquired a lot of speaking and presentation skills such as how to deliver
the speech with emotions and confidence, how to speak fluently and accurately and the use of gestures in
the presentation. I enjoy standing on the stage and speaking publicly. This has in fact developed my
confidence and ability to become a competent speaker.
Also, it boosted my communication skills and enhanced my language ability. Before the contest, I had to
understand the materials thoroughly; this helped to upgrade my reading skills. For Chinese debate
matches, as I needed to prepare for the speech and rebuttal, it made a big difference to my writing skills.
Moreover, since there are a wide variety of topics in the debate matches, I have acquired a lot of world
knowledge. I enjoy learning inside and outside the classroom. Though when the debate team was
established in the first year, we always lost; I learnt how to face failures with positive attitude. I believe
the perseverance and willpower which I have acquired through the process will be the invaluable qualities
in my life.
Furthermore, being the captain of the Chinese debating team has enabled me to be a responsible person. I
would take care of my teammates all the times, not only in the training course or debate match, but also in
their school work. The experience of getting along with my teammates strengthened my patience, trust
and sense of responsibility which are good for my future.
Joining these activities has really improved my intellectual ability, which helped me to develop a solid
foundation for my career aspirations. I am looking forward to a new journey of navigation.
