µStars and Stripes Tour of Normandyµ Sample Tour Description Note: all tours can be customized Day 1 Welcome and pickup at PARIS ROISSY CHARLES DE GAULLE (CDG) airport; travel to Orval in a large and comfortable air-conditioned minibus. You’ll be checked in to your accommodations at Maison du Pois de Senteur Bed & Breakfast by Catherine Simon. Only a short drive away is Agon Coutainville and dinner* in one of the local restaurants on the seaside. Day 2 Your host and guide will drive you to Saint-Côme du Mont (Dead Man Corner Museum**) then towards Sainte-Mère Eglise (Airborne Museum and visit of the town). After a quick snack, there will be a trip to the Utah Beach D-Day landing site. After the journey back to Orval, there might be a shared-cost dinner in the dining room at your bed and breakfast with your host and guide and his family. Day 3 Should Day 3 fall on a Tuesday, you can have the option of travelling to the traditional market at Villedieu les Poëles, which is also the site of an internationally known bell foundry as well as the town’s copper museum, capturing the history of the town’s centuries-old copper manufacture. After a quick snack taken locally, then it’s off to Granville to visit la Haute Ville as well as the Anacréon Museum and the beautiful harbor. Travel back to Orval and then to dinner at a restaurant in Coutances. Day 4 Your guide will drive you to Colleville sur Mer, site of the Omaha Beach US Army Cemetery followed by an optional trip to view the famous Bayeux Tapestry, completed in the 11th Century and recounting the story of the Norman invasion of England by William the Conqueror in 1066. Dinner optional. Day 5 A visit of La Cité de la Mer in Cherbourg OR of Le Mont Saint-Michel Priory can be scheduled for this day. Both sites are well worth the experience, but be advised: visits to these sites involve a great deal of walking. On this day, dinner would be taken in a restaurant near the site location; travel back to your accommodation in Orval would be after dinner. Day 6 There would be two choices for your tour on this day: you could visit either La Pointe du Hoc or Le Mémorial pour la Paix à Caen, both important WWII D-Day invasion sites. A stop at the impressive 360° Arromanches Museum would also be possible. Dinner optional. Day 7 Travel back to Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport for departure.
