LANCASTER TRAILWAYS reserves the right to cancel any tour for conditions beyond our control, including insufficient participation, and to change or modify
the itinerary as may be necessary for completion of a
tour or for the safety of our passengers. We reserve
the right to accept or reject any person as a member
of our tour at any time. It is our intention to provide
congenial traveling companions. Thus, we reserve
the right to take individuals off trips at any point if
said person disrupts the tour for others. The balance
of that person’s tour would be refunded.

“Heart” of North Carolina
DAY ONE—THURSDAY—NOVEMBER 6, 2014
We will depart for our tour of the “Heart” of North Carolina. Our first stop this morning will be the
awesome Billy Graham Library—a library like no other! You will have time for a self-guided tour. The
Library is not a memorial, nor is it a museum, but a ministry, prayerfully planned. You will also have
time to enjoy lunch, on your own, at the Graham Brothers Dairy Bar. After our tour we continue our
journey as we travel to Trinity, NC. Welcome to the gently rolling hills, river valleys, forests and ridges
of Randolph County, the geographic “Heart” of North Carolina. Our next adventure takes us to the
Linbrook Heritage Estate, completed in 2004 on 400 acres located on a hill. We will tour Linbrook Hall
which contains over 60 rooms covering approximately 32,000 square feet of livable space. You will
have the opportunity to view many of the main living areas and learn about the magnificent antiques
collected by the Neals over the years. We will then have a self-guided tour of the Neal Agricultural
and Industrial Museum which displays a collection of rare tractors and industrial equipment. The
museum has twenty-two fully restored John Deere tractors and a large collection of John Deere
memorabilia. After our tour we travel on to Greensboro, NC where we check into our hotel for a onenight stay. You will have time to freshen up before we depart for a fun evening at The Barn Dinner
Theatre. Conceived in the early 60’s, the Barn Dinner Theatre is the oldest continually operating theater in America. We will enjoy a scrumptious dinner before enjoying a production of “Always A Bridesmaid”. In this hilarious comedic romp, four friends have sworn to keep the promise they made on the
night of their Senior Prom: to be in each other’s weddings … no matter what. More than thirty years
later, these Southern friends-for-life are still making “the long walk” for each other, determined to
honor that vow. Hop on the marriage-go-round for a laugh-out-loud journey as these bridesmaids
navigate the choppy waters of love and matrimony while answering the question “Just how far are
you willing to go to keep a promise to a friend?” After the show we will return to our hotel for the evening. (Dinner)
DAY TWO—FRIDAY—NOVEMBER 7, 2014
Enjoy a full hotel breakfast at our hotel this morning prior to checking out and beginning our day. Our
first stop this morning will be The Petty Museum which was established in 1988. Race into this museum showcasing the unparalleled success story of one of the founding families of stock car racing.
The Petty Museum preserves the heritage of Petty Engineering and Petty Enterprises. Cars, trophies
and awards honoring the Petty Family are showcased throughout. After our tour we travel to the Pisgah Covered Bridge where you will have time to walk the bridge - a perfect photo opportunity. This
historic structure, one of North Carolina’s two remaining covered bridges, was built in 1911 at a cost
of $40. The bridge is 54 feet in length and crosses the West Fork Branch of the Little River within the
Uwharrie National Forest and is a direct connection to the county’s past mode of transportation when
horse and wagon were common. We then board our coach and travel to Seagrove, NC - the largest
community of potters with the longest continual history of pottery making in the United States. The
ceramic history of the area began with the abundant and diverse natural clay deposits found in the
area. Native Americans were the first to discover this resource and used it for both functional and
ceremonial objects. You will have time to visit the NC Pottery Center and time to browse the many
shops and galleries scattered throughout the area where you will find everything from traditional tableware to folk and collectible art pieces and historical reproductions. Lunch will be on your own in
Seagrove. After our visit we sadly must board our coach and bid the “Heart” of North Carolina goodbye as we travel back home. There will be a rest stop and dinner stop (if needed). (Breakfast)
