Dear Mr Jones,
TRAINEE ACCOUNTS CLERK : Ref TA/750
I would like to apply for the post of Trainee Accounts Clerk, as advertised in
the Sparton Express on 8 April 2010. I have been interested in working for
your company for some time and I believe I have the skills and experience

Since leaving Sparton Comprehensive School, I have been on a training

Dear Mr. Smith,
I am very keen to apply for any possible retail vacancies with your company.
I am currently at Marshwell School studying for my GCSEs and am interested
in a career in the retail or wholesale business. I have been interested in this
area of work since my work experience placement with Q & B in June of last
year. I have followed this up by working at my local garden centre selling
Christmas trees.
I have experience of customer service, placing customer orders and
answering customer enquiries. I can offer a calm and happy disposition, a
committed, hardworking attitude and an ability to work both without
supervision and within a team.
A copy of my CV giving details of my expected grades and experience is
enclosed.
I should be pleased to attend an interview at any time other than the dates
below — which are my exam dates — and can be available for work anytime
after the last Friday in June.
Exam dates: May 14, 17, 24 and June 14.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
(Jo Bloggs)

Dear Mrs Green
I will be leaving school in June and wish to apply for the position of Trainee
Maintenance Technician advertised in the Chesterfield Gazette on 8 April
2010
I did a week’s work experience at Houghton Engineering Co. Ltd. helping the
maintenance team, and for the past six months I have had a Saturday job in
a Plant Hire Company. I enjoy working with and around machinery, and
particularly like mending things. When my dad’s electric lawnmower broke
down recently I was able to diagnose the fault, order the new parts needed,
and repair it successfully.
My work experience and my Saturday job have helped me to develop my
communication skills, both face-to-face and on the telephone. I am able to
work well on my own and as a newcomer to an established team.
Please see my enclosed CV for further evidence of my skills and experience
and my expected grades.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely
(Ben Newton)
