2.2 Materials (Impact-modified extruded acrylic)
A. Gemini manufactures its own High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), which offers good rigidity & tensile strength. It is resistant to
chemicals & corrosion and has UV inhibitors to help prevent colors from fading.
2.3 Gemini’s own Extruded sheets of acrylic range from 1/8”, 3/16”, 3/8”, 1/4” and 1/2” thick)
A. Laser cutting has an inside diameter of .030”. The laser beam used to cut our acrylic letters and logos is actually .010”, but a slight
radius is given to the inside corners of letters to prevent cracking.
B. Router cutting produces a larger radius with a.125” diameter bi.
C. Computerized vector files need to be imported and then cleaned to properly cut a good letter. The degree of cleaning is more critical with a laser as the inside diameter will be .030”.
D. The largest piece we can cut is 48” x 96” in a single piece. Larger shapes can be cut in two pieces. Smaller letters under 24” can
be cut out of 1/8” & 3/16” thick material. Larger letters require a thicker gauge.
E. Acrylic letters and logos are cut in gauges up to 1/2” thick in over 32 different colors
F. 1000-watt lasers polish the edge return of all letters and logos as they cut through the material, providing a superior finish.
2.4 Mounting Hardware
A. Acrylic letters have plain, stud, pad, combination, or combination all for mounting options.
B. All standard formed plastic letters use 3/16” aluminum studs

2.3 Process
1. The maximum size for an Etched Plaque is 36" x 72" except for Copper, which has a maximum size is 40" x 60".
2. Plaques are available in four thicknesses: 1/16", 1/8", 3/16" and 1/4".
3. Edges — Square Edge is standard; Bevel Edge is also available.
4. Copy — Recessed copy and graphics are standard; Raised copy and graphics are also available.
5. Polished — Polishing, multi-color paint fill and thicker materials are available. Not all plaques may be polished.
6. Photographs & Line art — Halftone Photographs & Complex Line Art are available
7. Plaques are clear-coated and oven-baked with a two-part hardened seal of clear acrylic polyurethane. (Stainless Steel
plaques are left with no coating.)
2.4 Mounting Hardware
A. Hardware and instructions are provided for several mounting methods, including Blind Mount, Stud Boss Mount, Double
Face Tape and Screw Mount. Etched Plaques 1/4" or thicker can be drilled and tapped for a stud mount. Thinner plaques can
have corner holes drilled for mounting

A. Plaques shall be made of either Stainless Steel (Alloy C304; Optional Alloy 3116), Bronze (Alloy C22000), Brass
(Naval Brass Alloy C46400) or Copper (Alloy C11000).

2.2 Materials (metal)

2.3 Process
1. Fabricated letters are between.080” to .125” thick with returns typically .063” thick.
2. Precision-guided lasers, routers or jigsaws cut letters, logos or shapes.
3. Letter returns are cut to size based on the desired letter depth and bent to the contour of the laser cut faces to
produce a hollow-backed letter with 90º angle edges and hand-soldered using a lead-free silver solder.
4. Tests on our welds indicate the ability to withstand temperatures below -40ºF and exceeding 350ºF.
5. All fabricated products are either buffed, stroked or painted per specification.
6. The edge of all face on letters and logos have thin lines of exposed stainless steel that will be buffed smooth on
polished letters, or stroke sanded on satin letters to maintain consistency in appearance.
2.4 Mounting Hardware
A. Brackets are soldered on the inside of the letters to receive threaded studs.
B. All standard fabricated letters use 3/16” aluminum studs
2.5 Manufacture
A. Letters shall be made of either stainless steel Alloy #304 or Alloy #316. Alloy #304 may also be coated with a
thin layer of titanium.

2.6 Backlit Fabricated with LEDs
A. Mounting must be Lexan Back with Removable can.

2. Lexan backs are secured to cans with custom L-brackets and Stainless Steel Machine screws.
3. Power Supply wire hole to be drilled through Lexan backs - 1/4" diameter.
D. LED Mounting
1. LED to be positioned on Lexan back for proper halo lighting.
2. LEDs to be secured to inside of Lexan backs with LED Mfg. Doulbe Face Tape.
3. Every other module to be additionally secured to Lexan back using custom plastic brackets.
4. End LED module wires to be capped with end cap.
E. Wiring
1. All wiring components are to be UL approved components.
2. Power Supply wire to be run through Lexan back hole and secured to first module with UL approved wire nuts.
3. All wiring to be performed by a licensed electrical contractor.
4. LEDs to be powered by 12V power supply in accordance with LED mfg. requirements.
F. Hardware
1. Letters to stand off from wall to achieve desired halo effect.
2. Stainless Steel studs provided - thread into custom mounting brackets - through Lexan back.
a. 6" up to 24" high letters - 10/24 Stainless Steel studs.
b. 24" high and larger - 1/4-20 Stainless Steel studs.
3. Spacer sleeves provided - length per stand-off requirements.
4. Can attachment, Pan head screws provided and painted same color as outside can.

2.2 Materials (plastic)
A. Artek® a recyclable, patent-pending polymer.
2.3 Artek has the following specific characteristics (injection-molded Channel Letters have a wall thickness of .150”)
1. Artek is an engineering grade performance polymer.
2. Impact tests from -31° F to 187° F.
3. Arcing/Corrosion Resistant:
a. Non-conductive Artek eliminates arcing in neon installations
b. Neon tubes may be placed 1/8” from side return without arcing to can
c. Resistant to salts, acids and oils
d. UL and CSA recognized components
4. Gemini Channel Letters meet or exceed the following specifications: UL 48 for electric signs, UL 746c for weatherability and
UL94v-0 certification.
5. Letters are available in two fonts, Helvetica & Times Bold, in heights ranging from 9” to 24”. All letters are 5” deep. Both have
injection-molded Edge Glow faces available for a guaranteed fit.
6. Letters come as standard pre-primed white cans and can be painted in any standard Gemini color or custom-matched.
2.4 Mounting Hardware
A. Gemini recommends mounting channel letters with either a raceway or bottom rail mounting system. Letters can also be mounted
directly to a wall. Channel faces should be secured with sheet metal screws.

2.3 Process
1. The minimum height and width of a Gemini Plaque is 2” x 2” and the maximum size is 40” x 64” for a single piece.
2. Bronze plaques are 5/16” thick. Aluminum and Bronze plaques are 3/8” thick
3. Edges — Single Line, Double Line, Single Line Wide Bevel, Single Line Bevel and No Border are standard.
4. Background Textures a. Standard: Sand, Leatherette, Pebble and Stipple
b. Specialty: Patina (Verde, Turquoise & Parrot Green), Oxidized (Dark Oxidized & Light Oxidized)
5. Background Colors
a. Standard: Black, Dark Oxide, Duranodic Bronze and Brown
b. Custom: 45 Gemini Baked Enamel colors as well as color-matching
6. Surface Finishes — stroke sanding is standard. Polished finish is also available.
7. Plaques are clear-coated and oven-baked with a two-part hardened seal of clear acrylic polyurethane. (Oxidized patina plaques come
with a lacquer coating only.
2.4 Mounting Hardware
A. Hardware and instructions are provided for several mounting methods, including Blind Mount, Solid Wall Mount, Hollow Wall
Mount, Wood Wall Mount, Garden Stake Mount and Square Post Mount.
2.4 Manufacture
A. Letters shall be made of either Brass (220 Commercial) Aluminum (#5052) or Brass (C46400).
