Campus Description
The Royal Agricultural University is
located within walking distance of the
market town, Cirencester. As a very
green campus, the Royal Agricultural
has excellent outdoor sports and
activity areas. As a self-contained
university, all facilities are located
around the accommodation, making
for a safe and secure site. A lot of the
accommodation and teaching rooms
have been refurbished in the past few
years.
Nationality Mix
Groups will be met at the airport by
one of our Activity Leaders who will
welcome you to the UK and escort
you back to the campus. The transfer
times to/from Cirencester are:
Heathrow (LHR) 1hr 40mins
Gatwick (LGW) 2hr 30mins

The programme runs in blocks of
two week sessions. The dates at
Cirencester are:
Tue 1st July – Tue 15th July
Tue 15th July – Tue 29th July
Tue 29th July – Tue 12th August
Recommended ages: 12 to 17 years.
Welfare Services &
Locations
The Student Advice Bureau (SAB) is
located in the Teaching Block (Garner
Lecture Block), open throughout the
day and evening.
Italian (82%)
The SAB is staffed by our Welfare
Coordinator who is fully First Aid
trained and able to assist all students
and group leaders with any health or
welfare issues.

Accommodation
The accommodation is split over 5
blocks.
Woodlands Lodge is split over 3
houses and consists of 48 single
ensuite bedrooms.
Bledisoe Court (ABC programme
only) consists of 59 standard
bedrooms over 6 houses on 3 floors.
All rooms have a wash basin.
Vic Hughes Hall 1 has 26 single
ensuite bedrooms with a communal
lounge on the ground floor.
Coad court has 44 ensuite and 9
standard bedrooms (ISIS Staff). The
accommodation is split into 11 houses
of, mostly, 4 bedrooms each.
The New Build contains 57 single
ensuite rooms in two halls over 3
floors. There is a lounge and kitchen
on each floor of each hall.
Rooms are checked daily and
communal areas are cleaned daily.
Bed linen is changed once a week.
Room contents: bed, bed linen
wardrobe (fitted or free standing), desk
and chair, central light and reading
light.

Excursions
The programme includes 7 excursions
and an optional day:
1.3 half day excursions into
Cirencester with one visit to the
Corinium Museum.
2.Full day excursion to Bath with
entrance to Bath Abbey.
3. Half day to Bourton-on-the-Water.
4.Full day excursion to London with
walking tour.
5.Full day to Oxford with entrance to
an Oxford college.
Computer Access
Wi-fi internet is available for Group
Leaders – a username and password
is available to join the RAU network.
A few computers are available for
students to use in the evenings in the
teaching block.
Lessons
English lessons take place in the
Garner Lecture Block. The students
in your group will be met on the first
day of lessons and escorted to their
classrooms.
The lesson times are:
AM; 9.00 - 10.30 & 11 - 12.30.
PM; 14.00 - 15.30 & 16.00 - 17.30
Students will be provided with a
workbook and pen.
Sports
Cirencester has outdoor tennis courts,
basketball courts and a large sports
field for football, volleyball and other
outdoor activities.
There is a gym on site that Group
Leaders can use. It is essential that
Group Leaders take an induction and
pay a small fee before the gym is
used.
Security
There is 24 hour security, with night
staff on patrol after working hours.
There are no safes in the bedrooms,
however the ISIS Centre Manager will
have a safe in their office, and this can
be used by Group Leaders to store
money/passports securely.
Payphones are available on site.
The replacement cost for a lost key is
set at the fixed price of £50.00.

Social Spaces
Evening activities such as the Disco,
X Factor and the Fashion Show are
held in the Boutflour Hall. An additional
social space with sofas, pool, a
projector screen and a television is
located in the Tithe Barn.
There is also a social space outside
the Atrium Café. Films are held in the
same building as the café, in one of
the lecture theatres.
Laundry Service
There is a laundry room located on
site. It is £2-£2.50 for a wash and £1
minimum selection for tumble dryers.
All of the laundry facilities are selfservice. Open: 08.00 - 20.00.
Bed linen will be washed once a week
by the University laundry.

Shop & Café
There is a well-stocked shop located
on site between the Tithe Barn and
the Boutflour Hall. The shop opening
hours are: 08.00-20.00hrs Monday to
Friday. Weekends: 09.30-20.00hrs.
Also on site is the Atrium (Starbucks)
Café which also sells snacks and
pizzas.
Cirencester has a number of high
street shops as well as a unique
range of boutiques and independent
retailers.
Local Transport
It takes about 20 mins to walk into
Cirencester from the University.
Bus
There is a bus stop located on the
Stroud Road by the University. The
bus routes are 54 and 54A. Check
with your Activity Manager for times.

stone arch.
Nearest Town
Cirencester is a market town in the
centre of the Cotswolds. The town
itself is renowned for its rich Roman
history. Expect small independent
shops, cafes and restaurants tucked
away in winding streets. Markets are
frequently held in Market Place, with
regular antique and craft markets in
the Corn Hall. The Abbey Grounds are
a large park perfect for a place to sit
and eat lunch.
