WELCOME
Welcome to the Skin Cancer Conference 2014.
HealthCert in collaboration with UQ are proud to bring
this event back to Australia, and in particular to the
sunshine coast of Queensland and beautiful Noosa.
I look forward to seeing you at the Outrigger Little
Hasting Street Resort and Spa. This five star, Eco
friendly resort is nestled in a UNESCO forest reserve.
We are very excited to have this unique location
available for the 2014 conference.
The program this year features two world thought
leaders, brought together for the first time in Australia.
Luc Thomas from France and Masaru Tanaka from
Japan will be joined by leading dermoscopists,
researchers, professors and clinicians to present a
thought provoking, informative and entertaining
conference.
We are also very pleased to announce that both our
international speakers will be taking workshops on the
day before the conference begins. These workshops
have limited places available and sell out well in

We have selected a variety of expert international and national clinicians, researchers, specialists and
generalists, with the aim of providing a stimulating educational program.
Luc Thomas (France)
Masaru Tanaka (Japan)
Luc Thomas, MD, PhD, was board
certified in Dermatology in 1989 at
Lyon 1 University. He was trained as a
post-doctoral fellow at Harvard
Medical School in 1990 and 1991, and
obtained his PhD at Lyon 1 University
in 1993. He became full professor of dermatology in 1996, first
class professor in Dermatology in 2009, and chairman of the
Department of Dermatology of Lyon 1 University – Centre
Hospitalier Lyon Sud in 2003. He obtained his board
certification in clinical oncology in 2013
Dr. Masaru Tanaka graduated in 1984 at
the Keio University School of Medicine,
in Tokyo, Japan. Board certified
Dermatologist since 1989 and obtained
Degree of Doctor in Medical Science in
1992. He studied image analysis at Department of
Dermatology, University of Wales, College of Medicine, in
Cardiff, UK for two years (1993-1995). Associate Professor
(1999-2005) of Dermatology at the Keio University. Dr. Tanaka
was the Congress Secretary of the 100th Japanese
Dermatolgoical Association in Tokyo in April 2001.
His main research fields include skin oncology, early diagnosis
of melanoma, dermoscopy, skin surgery and nail diseases.He
has published more than 200 peer-reviewed scientific articles in
international journals, is the co-editor of four books published
in several languages and co-author of more than 25 books. He
has lectured at many international meetings, is an associate
editor of Dermatology, a member of the board of the
International Dermoscopy Society, a past member of the board
and treasurer of the French Society of Dermatology from 2000
to 2003, and treasurer of the World Congress of Dermatology in
Paris in 2002
Currently he is Associate Professor of Dermatology at the
Department of Dermatology, Tokyo Women’s Medical
University Medical Center East, in Tokyo/Japan. His main
research field is the bullous disorders, contact dermatitis,
dermatopathology, image analysis and dermoscopy.

The Skin Cancer Conference 2014 and Workshops are run over a three day period commencing with a day
of workshops (Thursday), followed by the two day conference (Friday and Saturday) and finishing with a
gala dinner. The program is complimented with various offsite activities to enhance your experience of
attending a conference in Noosa.
